Thanks for explore mode dungeons

I'm quite excited for the explore mode for dungeons. I have been hoping something like this would come to help new players get into dungeons. I hope you can do this for all dungeons at some point. I can bring a few friends in and they can learn at a much easier pace.

    • I hope this is a permanent thing going forward, for both new dungeons and old, as well as raids. There is no reason, for the older raids or dungeons at least, why this content should be gatekept behind either looking up endless guides on the internet or finding that rare Sherpa willing to teach you it. And for those saying Sherpas will be put to the curb, there will still be business for you. There have always been guides out there and they haven't put you out of business. Why would this? People learn in different ways. The Explore mode won't be to everyone's learning style. And, besides. Wouldn't it be a better world if everyone knew what to do, or at least, there were more Sherpas for end game content so the few that are remaining don't get burnt out teaching time and time again? Because let's be honest, find me one person willing to teach Last Wish. Or Prophecy. Or Ghosts of the Deep, or Spire of the Watcher. Now find me a person willing to do any raid or dungeon, but teaching more than one person. Find me a Sherpa willing to take on 5 pupils through a raid. The answer? Scant few, if any at all in some cases. This will make it better for everyone.

        Wow an idea that has been put forward hundreds of times over the years an now finally bungie listens when the playercount is low and the company is in debt lmao they should also do this for raids and finally be rid of the payed sherpas and having to log out a game to watch a tutorial . (Since pantheon wasn't really a tutorial it was an exotic weapon and boss cp farm that paid sherpas still managed to profit from ) Maybe they realised that the trials change that actually got more players in the game that also had been asked for years by majority of the community wasn't a daft idea after all and maybe just maybe listening to the majority instead of the top% is how they should move forward

        • I think it’s cool and I don’t understand the condescension from the hardcore crowd. You have strike playlist, amongst which one would go in rotation each week as a NF with 3 difficulty level then GM as the ultimate difficulty. That means on Strike you have 5 level of difficulty and everyone is happy. I don’t see the issue of adding an entry mode to dungeons, or even raids. Like strikes these are meant to be run as a team, and like strike you still get loot from running on the lower difficulty mode, albeit not as good, that seems like a win win to me, for everyone.

          • Knowing Bungies recent implementations, this "easy mode" will be on master nightfall difficulty instead of grandmaster difficulty lol. Bungie is so in love with their bRiNg cHaLlEnGe bAcK tO dEsTiNy agenda to satisfy the 3 streamers who are left living and breathing this game, that they forgot about the vast majority of regular 9-5 casual players. Even if toned down, it will not bring back casuals. Atleast not more than like 4 or 5 of them.

          • Explore mode for dungeons is an excellent idea and it should be in place for ALL dungeons. My only questions: Will the Explore Mode stick around after the dungeon event ends? Will the 3 dungeons go back to being paid content after the dungeon event ends?

            • Good to have and I appreciate that it’s not every dungeon - gotta have something aspirational too lol. The three they chose will also be good for the endgame mode. Spire and Prophecy are 2 of the best balanced dungeons in the game and while I’m not the deep dungeon’s biggest fan, it’s not terrible.

                  Genuinely excited for this, a really good move. I only really know Grasp and will be having a crack at the ones in this event. I did a Grasp run the other day for the pinnacle and the guy who had put the team up on FF clearly didn't know what to do, we were at the Ogre when I twigged. Messaged him and asked if he wanted to learn. He said yes. Messaged the other guy who clearly knew what he was doing and said this guy doesn't know the Dungeon but wants to learn. He also stuck around. We took our time and just shot at things or indicated for him to follow us as we went through, he got his completion and some nice loot. He was well chuffed. Did another run with him a day or two later and he was taking the lead in most sections. If this means more people like this guy learning the Dungeons easier then its a very welcome and great addition. Cant wait to dive in.

                • I like the idea. An alternative might be to allow revives, maybe at least in a limited number. One of the most annoying mechanics is you run through an encounter - talking here about solo runs predominantly - and dying by a stupid mistake, architecture or boss with the last small spark of health and you go back to start again. I am not talking about awarding any triumph I don't care anyway. Leave it to the hardcore and flawless players, I grant them their special and true achievement. Just allow me to finish a great example of game art and design which in many cases I can't do alone.

                • That's super nice to have. Been saying for ages they need to do this for raids, but they decided to do it for dungeons where is (mostly) easier to explain and is usually less pressure/time commitment. :) Anyway it's a good addition but I don't understand why it's temporary. They should rather do it on rotator for each season or whatever they call them now. It will also be beneficial to me, because I despise Spire of Watcher mechanics >.< so now I might give it a try.

                  • I’d happily get into doing a raid - one chunk at a time, say from/on a reasonable checkpoint to checkpoint basis. This would enable one to rinse / repeat each section, accordingly, without the pressure of a lengthy time commitment or LFG KWTD experience. 👈 Furthermore, one would also meet likeminded Guardians along the way! And if these became a regular option, allowing players to auto-join or start a fresh section run via MM, they would soon be well populated and that’s good for the game! Same for Dungeons! 👈 BHQ are taking good steps in the right direction, if only baby ones… 👍👍 Finally, another idea would be for small 2-3 mom/pop/son/ daughter clans to join a larger clan as an affiliate member for doing / learning full raids / dungeons, without a) having to close their tiny and often sentimental family clan, and b) without drawing any of the large clan’s member rewards. Again, another win:win option! Possibly?! Maybe BHQ / other SML Clans could give some feedback on this…🤔 That is all. Ease Springs! 🫡 MDGA

                        Only issue I take with it is inconsistencies between difficulties. Like the extra platforms are useful but if you have just done explore mode and then go to normal mode expecting those platforms to be there and they aren't that might be a bit confusing. Hopefully there is a modifier that explicitly states that there is extra platforming help so there is some notice about that from explore to normal mode. Other than that its a very good change. I would rather prefer dungeons/raids to become a bit more simplified or more obvious in their mechanics through visual and audio cues so that a big box with text in it explaining the actual mechanics isn't necessary.

                        Assuming the No Darkness Zone thing extends to Boss encounters, it will be interesting to see if (non-Flawless) Solo Completion Triumphs will be obtainable through Explore Mode. Giving players new to Dungeon crawling a relatively easy way to get that one RNG Boosting Triumph under their belt for GotD and SotW (as well as Bunny Ghost from Prophecy) may convince some of them to continue engaging with the content after the event ends. [i]i for one welcome a proliferation in bunny ghosts, for bunny ghost is love and bunny ghost is life.[/i] / (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)

                        • Yea this should be a permanent and mandatory mode for all dungeons and raids to get more casual players to do them then jumping in blindly Gd they finally realize less and less players are doing them and Hopefully this gets a gd QOL response from the community IMO they should make this mandatory with a challenge tied to them to push them more to do it "Complete explore mode dungeon 3 times" You get 2 random dungeon weapons
