Destiny is peak right now, regardless of...

Regardless of the current population and sentiment about Bungie as a company, the game has honestly never been better. I could go down a list of reasons why I feel this way, with all of the QoL changes, to the variety of the playlists, and build diversity and reward diversity. However, the thing that makes it the best is seen through examine of how they are as an enjoyable experience. This can be measured by what I call...The Three Pillars of Game Enjoyment. 1. Complexity 2. Game feel and 3. Consistency. At no point in the history of this game was there a time when it felt this fully fleshed out, along with a high rating in each of those categories. The complexity is seen by having a wide range of skill levels represented. The game feel is obviously a slam dunk, no argument from anyone. The consistency is how consistent they bring out the best of what they have to offer, with little to no bugs that cause errors to affect your interaction with the game. Regardless of bugs that do appear (especially in Live Service games), most are fixed and most don't really stop you from playing the game as a whole. We are living at the best time to be a gamer, with so many banger games out there to experience and get lost in for hours. And this one is one of the brightest stars of them all!

  • It's a skinner box of bugs & tedium. They create content to run thousands of times, content they can reuse,it's all very very basic design with mechanics other games had decades ago. The incentives are almost non existent, a new perk on an old gun, a new gun that looks exactly like 7 other guns in the game. The abilities they've added, fragments etc, whilst cool in theory are destroying connections & performance by overloading the data servers. They've no QA staff & we've never had as many bugs & broken things, alongside more & more black screens & things like tower travel taking 5 mins. Then there's this weird bullet sponge mentality & throw hundreds of respawning adds into the mix. On the surface it's a very pretty, nice feeling game, but it's as shallow as puddle & almost all of the systems are poor, broken, badly designed or very very basic. The most challenging in destiny is finding competent people to play with, do that & everything is too easy, fail to do that & everything is too mundane. I still play, I'm retired & fill time but it's not a good game, it's just a very simple timesink built to feed addiction
