Destiny is peak right now, regardless of...

Regardless of the current population and sentiment about Bungie as a company, the game has honestly never been better. I could go down a list of reasons why I feel this way, with all of the QoL changes, to the variety of the playlists, and build diversity and reward diversity. However, the thing that makes it the best is seen through examine of how they are as an enjoyable experience. This can be measured by what I call...The Three Pillars of Game Enjoyment. 1. Complexity 2. Game feel and 3. Consistency. At no point in the history of this game was there a time when it felt this fully fleshed out, along with a high rating in each of those categories. The complexity is seen by having a wide range of skill levels represented. The game feel is obviously a slam dunk, no argument from anyone. The consistency is how consistent they bring out the best of what they have to offer, with little to no bugs that cause errors to affect your interaction with the game. Regardless of bugs that do appear (especially in Live Service games), most are fixed and most don't really stop you from playing the game as a whole. We are living at the best time to be a gamer, with so many banger games out there to experience and get lost in for hours. And this one is one of the brightest stars of them all!

  • The issue here is that Destiny is a relatively old Game. And I mean Old. Not like Doom old, but being a live service game before Live Service was really a thing, it’s ancient by those standards The population along with it is also older, and thus the expectations on what Bungie should and shouldn’t deliver has only grown in proportion with expansions like Taken King, Forsaken, and yes, even Final Shape. On top of this, it’s easier to be more critical of certain bugs because while they may not be able to directly affect our “ability” to play, they do affect our experience in game, and in recent years, these bugs have only seemed to get more prevalent. It’s not so long ago that the Craftening happened. Pair it with other game breaking bugs that could be argued for having Rollbacks and whatnot (the recent Dungeon Pantheon accidental release) are just painting a very bad image of Destiny. This doesn’t even consider release date queue times and Network errors. For major releases like the Final Shape, that’s excusable, but not being able to get into Destiny for half the day on the release of an Episode is inexcusable, cause it’s not just the population doing that.
