Bad game (see image), not the point here. There are plenty of bad games, especially at peak times at the moment (strangely - but not so much). However, can anyone explain what kind of "Outlier protection" is active on this picture? Because I can see some big outliers here.

When really high elos or really low ones, get involved the system kinda breaks down because the elo system doesn't handle outliers well.

A major factor to consider that none of you do is player availability. Not exactly at peak player count. So yeah, you’ll see some weird skews cause the count is crap. But I mean….why don’t you just take the L and move on? Y’all act like this is some balanced and fair PvP mode when it’s never been remotely close to it.

Edited by Avvor: 3/28/2025 12:43:33 AMWhere do you see some big outliers there’s one outlier in one actually good players the rest of the team is evenly matched They ain’t gonna make a really good player wait in orbit 10 minutes ir longer just to find a match he needs to find a match tho and got put in yours because no higher skilled lobbies were available at the time

Generally speaking IF the ELO rating was a direct indicator to skill(its not but for this example lets say it is). Outlier protection puts 2100+ players & 1200 or below into the same match making pool. Because they are the outliers, that being the best and the worst. While the median players that are 1400-1800 are matched together. This is very common in control that is. While seeing median players match a 2100+ or a 1200 below is not too common.
