Bad game (see image), not the point here. There are plenty of bad games, especially at peak times at the moment (strangely - but not so much). However, can anyone explain what kind of "Outlier protection" is active on this picture? Because I can see some big outliers here.

Generally speaking IF the ELO rating was a direct indicator to skill(its not but for this example lets say it is). Outlier protection puts 2100+ players & 1200 or below into the same match making pool. Because they are the outliers, that being the best and the worst. While the median players that are 1400-1800 are matched together. This is very common in control that is. While seeing median players match a 2100+ or a 1200 below is not too common.
