Starting in Frontiers bungie has been talking about how they are changing the story questline to be nonlinear. But after what we have seen from the past 2 dungeon quests, do we really want that? I mean it sounds cool and if implemented correctly might be a really good thing. In the past 2 dungeons the quest has been linear, but we see them using the same resources for different parts of the quest and dungeon instances being out of sync. In VH using the same rooms has resulted in this quest being broke as -blam!-. We see people also having problems with the quest in SD.
And sure, nothing is perfect and there is always the possibility of issues, so we need to look at the response to said issues. In VH bungie has washed their hands of the broke quest. Their message on this quest being broke is to just go pick up the message. But the message isn't there. How many months has this dungeon been out? Early on one of their solutions put the onus on us once again. Start the quest over on another character. Well, that didn't work. I ran out of characters apparently. Then they said to find someone who hasn't done the quest yet. Didn't work for many and ended up breaking the quest for the other poor soul. Every one of their solutions is zero work for them and is an us problem in their minds.
In SD so many people are getting stuck again. And guess their solution. Play the quest on other characters. Totally ridiculous. Just fix your crap. Me and a friend have been 2 manning this dungeon until this week. We were afraid to LFG or run with a 3rd until we finished the quest because there is a good chance running with someone on another step would break our quest.
So, do we really want them trying to implement a complex story questline when their history has shown that they are inadequate in both implementing a complex quest and responding to issues that arise from the quest?

I suspect Frontiers will be a low-budget, low effort affair. Hopefully, it's not as bad as Curse of Osiris.

Imo they should just go back to the 2014-2018 Destiny format. I bet this new non linear way will be an even worse way of how seasons or episodes are.

They really can talk up how amazing them dropping 3 quest lines into your quest log will be lol because thats what it'll be.

Honestly, I care more regarding how much they go in on making Destiny a Roguelike. I'm not the biggest fan of Roguelikes. I tolerate them, but they aren't something I would want to come back to weekly.

If it gets rid of vaulting and time gating/ drip feed content I’m all for it

The whole idea of what we want, creates issues constantly seeing there’s no consensus. The community cried non stop about Bungie not being innovative enough with the game. So they started mixing things up and trying different approaches. Monkeys paw would apply with several things that are part of the game now. I’m personally looking forward to it but I get that certain people want the game to stay the same. I’m curious to see Tysons vision with D2.

I get the concern, but I'm not sure if this tracks from dungeon quest to main storyline. A more adequate example of this technology being flexed could be seen last week, when we entered the shrine of oryx from patrol to be met with a unique instance of the space. Now if THAT had shipped broken, I'd share your concern.

What's that mean?
