Before void 3.0 if you stuck an enemy guardian in the head with smoke bomb (of which you had 2 to choose from!) it was a kill at any resilience (it might have been with Khepri's sting I can't remember), after 3.0 you could stick a guardian in the face twice with smoke bomb and do less damage. The first nerf it received recently was to its duration, weakening Khepri's sting's exotic trait of sticking smoke bombs to surfaces and gaining melee regeneration. the 2nd nerf was to its ability to slow targets in its area of effect (in pvp). Smoke bomb and threaded specter have the same "messes with enemy player motion detector" effect. Threaded specter lasts 10ish seconds, has a health bar, deals more detonation damage and generates Threadlings upon detonation. smoke bomb's smoke deals negligible damage, no longer slows (in pvp) and lasts about 5-7 seconds in a very small area. I'm a titan main, but these nerfs feel really unfair to a subclass that doesn't even get to pick its melee.

Edited by s: 4/5/2025 5:23:10 PMsmoke bomb after the nerf is still the strongest pvp melee in the game. it is the only melee in the game that unconditionally without any aspect or fragment or in game conditional does 5+ things. it blinds your enemy, it deals damage/zones off an area from your enemy, it pings/manipuates radar, it makes your enemy take increased damage, it can be stuck to surfaces like a mine with delayed/proximity activation, and it can be thrown the same distance as a grenade. no other melee in this game does that many things without needing an aspect or conditional to make it do more. so no this post screams skill issue. if anything void hunter needs more nerfs it is in the current meta as powerful as prismatic was before it got the nerfs it deserved last season.
