Last weekend was my first taste of the new trials system. And I love it. I went to the lighthouse four times. I felt like I could focus on my improvement more without worrying about a streak as much. And the loot is generous. But what I really love is the boatload of materials you get. It rewards your time and effort a lot better. Now I'm very much looking forward to the weekend. Yes, it still wasn't a cakewalk.
You will have losses, but you won't be out of the running. This is what I imagine trials being and should have been years ago.
I know my 2 cents is late, but I'm glad I can speak positively about trials for once.

I just wish we didn't have to go 7 straight wins for flawless. On average I'm not resetting the card anymore than I was before (2-3 times tops), but last week was BRUTAL. Like 13 resets for flawless because I got so many matches where either my team I swear didn't have thumbs or the enemy was constantly cheaters or 5-0 tryhards. Seriously, I don't care how bad the MM is, I shouldn't wind up in a match where I go 18/5 or something like that and both my teammates went 2/10 and 2/9 while every enemy player went anywhere from even to 14/5. I have no idea how we won that match.
-
I'm shocked people still cheat. I've run into the same lagswitcher again and again.
-
Well, I thought if you got 7 wins on a card, you get the Adept. Didn't get it, so I googled the new passage, and apparently, you only get the Adept on 7 wins with a team. So once again I'm already done playing Trials.

Edited by Sylok, The Defiled!: 4/17/2025 6:07:10 PMAs someone who enjoyed trials A LOT back in D1. -And is the only enjoyable PvP Gamemode in Destiny 2. Bungie has a track record of giving out it's flawless loot "for free" (literally) which cheapens the whole experience & adjusting this specific activity to allow players to "not miss out". What they did in D1....
[] They gave away the Scarab Heart Emblem in D1 (same for the cat emblem), obtainable via LORD SHAXX bounties. -The only rewards that retained their value were the emblems you got from opening the chest. [] They gave away the Flawless "Pariah" armor, obtainable through bounties with the Trials Vendor 'Brother Vance' These were major accomplishments that they handed out for free just so players "wouldn't miss out" -Back in the day you had to go 9-0 with only 1 loss forgiveness - The arms of this set you could apply Chroma to & make it glow whatever color you desired - The warlock bond also had a unique feature, the bond was gold now & the Osiris Sun was Blue instead of red.
What they did in D2.....
Trials of the Nine In Destiny 2, we had Trials of the Nine. Which has so far evaded the D1 treatment from bungie......for now..... -I would like to get the cosmetics personally. The only thing out of TotN that was handed out was Gift of the Nine shader from lord shaxx. ~Let's see what they do in Rite of the Nine & Edge of Fate.... Trials of Osiris This new system makes going to the lighthouse much easier & more rewarding. But comes with a bunch of downsides. []You can no longer control the color of your flawless armor glow. (now it is tied to your win-streak performance) [] An emblem such as Dazzling Iridescence is easier to get now that you can lose as much as you want, since Wins are the only requirement that are tracked for acquiring the emblem. [] Cosmetics are easier to acquire, and guaranteed given the dedication. (i am missing 2 ghost shells & prolly got 7 cosmetics in like 3 weekends of playing) [] The Lighthouse is essentially guaranteed, since losses don't block entry to this place. [] Flawless glows now last less than 1 week, as before it lasted almost 2 weeks. Everything that made Trials desirable in the first place got completely neutered and stripped away.
Speaking as pure 0.3% old tortoise, solo player aka cannon fodder (since way back 😉), I’ve played both card types, and from this side of the equation, here’s my take… 1. Ships / Ghosts / Sparrows - these should drop randomly from engrams / rank-ups / reaching 7x Wins regardless of losses…on both card types. 2. Special Trials Emblems - a new set should be introduced for the hardcore Flawless players to chase…only available on a Flawless straight 7x Wins card with zero resets. For example: If you lose on game 5 you have to then play to get 7 wins regardless of losses…once achieved, you can then buy a fresh card and try again for a 7x straight Flawless run! That would be one to chase, for those hardcore ninjas! 😎 These two suggestions would appeal to many players, I reckon; to get me back into Trials, it’s usually for a weapon I don’t yet have…and that’s about it. My Trials experiment re the two new card types…has been completed…and now that they’re done, so, too, am I. 🫤 Getting a flood of dross Trials weapons does nothing to inspire me. Achieving a sizeable win streak to unlock better loot is beyond my 0.3% pay grade! So, that won’t inspire me. Adept toys don’t do it either…nice as they are to get; but at my level, it’s only the barest minimum on the Lighthouse card that’s available to me…and the stats weren’t worth the struggle, either! So, eff that for a game of soldiers! 😂 Overall opinion: so uninspiring.❌👈❌ Which leads back to my two suggestions above! That is all. Ease Springs! 🤔

You did good, because it was your turn. Try the same this or next week.
-
Adept Weapons should only be given out for a 5 win streak (similar to old trials if you count the 2 mercies)
-
I'm mixed on it. I'm for whatever brings traffic to the game, so if it's effective in that way I support it. Personally I'm usually not good enough to win 7 straight, but I could eventually get a mercy card done. I found myself playing more in pursuit of that, and there was more of a thrill of going "Flawless" . Now it's just bland, but I still have fun.
-
My only complaint is i hate having a 7 win streak. I prefer the blue glow, but thats tied to 6 streak. Once you hit 7, you're locked to the red glow. Before it sucked because you had to run the the respective emblem to get your desired glow. Now you dont even geg a choice.
-
I miss when you could farm flaws now it’s only 1 a week
-
Yep! They really improved it. I fully support the new changes and it’s been rewarding each week. It is still a heck of a grind for cosmetics, but those should be coveted so to say…so justifiable grind

This is but a taste of the Terror Bungie has unleashed on Trials of Osiris fans.

This was also my first weekend of new trials and I enjoyed it. I was a little jarred by the fact that you are locked with a flawless card once you get it, because I wanted to play with non-pvp friends after I went flawless and was worried it would put me in hell lobbies, but it seems to take an average from everyone because the matches were not as hard as the ones I was getting solo but still close and challenging. I came around to the flawless card thing because you can get so much loot by just continuing to play, and you never reset once you have it no matter how much you lose, so even if you're winning half your games you get a ton of stuff and have an incentive to keep playing (I recognize it was double loot to be fair).

Edited by IcyHorizons: 4/17/2025 10:51:44 AMHonestly, I don't like Trials anymore, but I'm happy for you. Trials for me, was supposed to be that game mode where you strive for the ultimate goal of reaching the Lighthouse after battling your way to 7 hard fought matches. Now? Going to the Lighthouse feels about as rewarding as getting a participation ribbon. There's no joy in it, there's nothing rewarding about just sticking it out until you get to 7 wins, regardless of how many matches you've lost. Not to mention, most players will just leave the game anyway after a round loss, or two. I understand that the changes were made for the casuals, and then have a completely separate card system for people who want the above mentioned experience, HOWEVER, that doesn't excuse the fact that they basically gutted what the gamemode was in the first place. Bungie tried to please the casuals, but also killed Trials in the process.

Your two cents aren’t as late as these supposedly good changes to trials were.
