Title says it all. For your mental health take a break from this game. Nothing but rage and disappointment on these forms.

It’s what is expected from a game that used an addiction modelling expert to help design gameplay and reward structures… his paper is online by the way.

Likely what I’ll be doing for this year. Both expansions look utterly pitiful. Edge of Fate introduces no new abilities, instead Bungie hypes up a new puzzle gimmick and tries to pretend they’re “abilities” when the reality is that they exist to solve puzzles. Renegades introduced the horror of external IPs having an effect on Destiny expansions. Lightsabers in Destiny will *permanently* link the franchise to Star Wars. Darth Vader transmog has done the same. Bungie has sunk further down the IP collaboration rabbit hole, and they’re getting closer to external IPs actually dictating their content expansions. “It’s inspired by” Darth Vader is Darth Vader. Lightsabers are lightsabers. It’s not “inspired by”, it’s one of the most popular characters in fiction, and one of the most popular weapons in fiction. It’s no longer inspiration. I’ve been with this franchise since House of Wolves, I’ve taken plenty of breaks but I’ve always come back. But this years expansions have me feeling like the future is bleak. They don’t know what they’re doing now that the light/dark story has concluded, so they’re experimenting with our wallets and giving us puzzle gimmicks advertised as abilities and expansions that have been affected by real-world IPs. The worst part is: people are singing their praises. It doesn’t matter if Bungie fills Destiny with external IP galore - it’s worth it if there are lightsabers. It hurts but this franchise is going downhill and the majority have their hands up, shouting out in praise as it does
