I'm glad Bungie is finally growing a bit of their confidence back when it comes to doing wacky and wild game modes. Back in the Halo days, they were known for it, from infected and grifball to all sorts of fiesta random weapon approaches. However, heavy metal needs some massive adjustments, or people will play it for the sparrow and never touch it again.
1. Surprisingly, the balance between tanks and brigs is very close, but the brigs shooting pattern seems off. Maybe it's just playing at a high FOV, but it feels like the brig shots always hit the floor even though the cursor is well above, while the tanks never experience this issue.
2. The score cap is comically high. If it was 6v6, I can easily see there being a 50 point cap to it but for a goofy gamemode, I don't want to be trapped in a game for 10 mins stalling for 3 people to stop hiding behind a rock. It takes way too long to complete these games. Either up it to 6v6, or drop the points down to something more reasonable like 30.
3. I'm not the first to say that the leader armor is stupid and shouldn't be a thing but here we are. It's dumb, just remove it.
4. I think the biggest issue I experienced hands down is how awful it feels to attempt to play on a controller where you can't adjust your vehicle sensitivity. It instantly puts you at a disadvantage against mouse and keyboard. Is it the end of the world? No, not at all, but it's annoying and has been an issue since vanilla d2 on PC but Bungie has failed to address it in any capacity. This game mode just shines yet another light on the problem.
I want to see more wild and fun crucible game modes but this feels like such a rushed afterthought that has so many issues that even taking 30 seconds to stop and think about it would correct it. It's a shame how many easy wins bungie could have if they just stopped and used common sense for once.
