Grinding feels like a waste with revamp coming

The rewards are just delivering zero dopamine when I know the devs are making most everything suck compared to the new systems and rewards in the next patch, especially armor. Everything armor is going down the drain to create a new grind for the new system. All time invested goes in the trash because their live service wants continually escalating power rewards. set bonuses, more slots, 200 points per stat with new bonuses past 100, and gear tiers Just all feels like a waste to grind for rewards that will go directly in the trash. And the grind systems in the story have gotten steadily more tedious. If the grinds weren't so heavy handed, I might still do a bit but the grind/reward ratio is just not motivating right now.

        • What ticks me off about this revamp is threefold: 1.) The first is that it fixes nothing, assuming there's even a problem in the first place. Bungie claims that every new armor set is "pointless" because of the stat system, but instead of making new armor that gives you a reason to want it beyond simple stats (or even beyond transmog), their answer is to... cosmetically change the stat system and release new armor that works exactly like the old armor, except with different names for the stats and an "overflow" stat boost that will become impossible to balance. This will result in reaching the same point we are today -- people will have the armor they need for their builds and new armor will become pointless because once you have the right stats, anything that doesn't fit those stats can't be utilized anymore. It will just take a few months, but it kicks the can down the road; something Bungie loves to pretend is that handing the problem to someone else "fixes" it. 2.) The second is that this is just "soft sunsetting." They were already doing this somewhat with reprised versions of weapons and FOMO-driven event weapon drops that would often powercreep the old version in some capacity. You can tell Bungie never really wanted to get rid of the concept of sunsetting and they've successfully been able to rebrand it as "reprisal" for awhile now. Armor isn't getting that same "courtesy." Every piece of your armor becomes obsolete once the update hits and they fully expect you to delete all/most of it that isn't being used to grind the new stuff. Once again, this is Bungie trying to sunset something while calling it something else, which leads me to... 3.) This is a huge slap in the face of the veteran players, but that's par for the course when it comes to Bungie. What they're actually mad about isn't that armor is "pointless to grind for," it's that veteran players don't have to grind for anything outside of transmog because they've been playing long enough to get enough armor to make any build they want to mess around with effectively. This is a way to force veteran players back onto the hamster wheel that they were able to successfully remove themselves from, and to me, that's the biggest kick in the teeth of all. To Bungie, you're never supposed to be able to get off that wheel, and in at least one aspect of the game, old players were able to. Not anymore. Get on that wheel, Guardian, at least for another year before this exact same scenario we have today returns and we do this dance all over again, anyway.

Im not one to complain about stuff super often but the elegant arsenal couldve been a slam dunk and was a complete airball. they had the ground work set for them with how good the brave arsenal was, those guns were an awesome way to prepare us for the final shape sandbox with strong weapons that were meant to be relevant deep into the following year and they totally nailed it. and then for rite of the nine they come out and say "our hope is that these weapons are equivalent to tier 3 weapons in the new system", so basically trying to achieve the same thing but totally missed. They had so many opportunities to give these weapons unique and strong perk combos - Prosecutor should have had jolting feedback voltshot Long arm REALLY should have had voltshot... Lone survivor is great, but only because its the first SMG ever with incandescent heal clip, this combo has long existed on other weapons. Why not give it the splash perk and a damage perk like frenzy? Cold comfort is literally worse than the original ghosts version, seriously telling us these guns were supposed to prepare us for the new system and then you put rimestealer and perpetual motion on a rocket, that has to be a joke. this was the answer to hezen vengeance? Judgment having headstone rimestealer is unique but a total gimmick Etc etc etc. THE ONLY actually super strong weapon to chase here is a sudden death because trench barrel OTP has been sought after for a long time, and these perks are super good with synthoceps builds right now. Everything else is pure novelty and gimmicks, worse than things we already have. Tinashas mastery, Velocity baton, chill inhibitor, unvoiced, hezen, corrective measure, praedyths revenge, multimach, no hesitation... these are the weapons that we will be taking into the new year. Not anything from rite of the nine lol. Prefiring people replying to me making their case for whatever nonsense buildcraft they use in vanguard ops where XYZ weapon is useful. Use whatever you enjoy I dont use the meta all the time either, but spare me the argument that it holds up against what we have already

          • I’m just not doing it myself. This is another restart just like Lightfall where they are going to start off in a really bad spot and try to make adjustments after the fact. Remember legendary Avalon being nerfed a massive 33% and it still sucked. No thanks I won’t buy another Destiny experiment until I know they’ve started hiring competent people

Listen if people want a Destiny 3....This is it. Throw everything in the trash and start over. That's what everyone's been asking for. Or.... Look at the patterns over the last 2 years.... Weapons getting updated into the new system, (By far the most important part of the game...the weapons above all else) They've shown us time & time again that they can update existing weapons in our vaults & inventory over the new systems....(weapons becoming enhanceable) Examples: Into the light weapons....Igneous hammer, Cataphract, Riptide, Heliocentric.....All weapons that started out as just regular.....updated to become enhanceable when Final Shape & other events launched. (Worse case scenario: Beyond light only sunset weapons to a point. (so season 10 & 11 were still usable)) ____________________ Focus on the weapons. Get the Rite of the Nine weapons 100%. There is a good chance they could carry over to the new system because they are the newest. Better to have weapons in your vault than not have them at all. Vault management 101. _________________________ As for armor. The new system will be better. As long as they make 100 resil mobilty & recovery the default (as it always has been for years) Removing these Necessity dump stats can be such a huge W. And gaining ability damage, Weapon damage, super damage....Health on orb pickup...just on stats alone is a very solid improvement.... EVERY stat point mattering! On top of Set Bonuses being permanent artifact perks on our armor....That can open the doors for a lot of things. Bungie just has to deliver on the QoL. But the room for expansion is there. They just have to make good use of it. But what am i saying they can't possibly over-deliver amirite!???

              • Weapons are still worth grinding. Bungie has stated that the weapons we’re getting now are around a tier 3. Your weapons aren’t going to be useless overnight. The real difference between tier is minor boosts to stats (like the stat bump Adepts get when fully masterworked). Just don’t grind armor. The new event has 0 new armor for that reason. Collect the designs for dresstiny, and that’s about it.

                  • The new weapons aren’t gonna make the old weapons obsolete. I guarantee you 99% of players will never notice the difference between enhanced origin and mag perks and non enhanced. Most enhanced perks don’t do anything anyways. You’re being dramatic.

Think of this way: you can just keep putting all the stuff into your vault for now. When new expansion comes out, you're gonna spend lots of glimmer & materials to upgrade/enhance the new armor & weapons... you can then dismantle all the crap you'd been putting in the vault & get some currency back.

                        • tbh rewards stopped giving dopamine when they decided to make every loot drop like candy with zero efforts or grind requiered i remember the last time i was hyped to get an exotic to drop, and it was peregrine greaves and monte carlo in shadowkeep lmao. since then we had no random exotic drops asides from raids and dungeons (that guarantes the gun upon contest completition nowadays) post master is filled with exotic and legendary engrams, at a point i let them disappear now.

                        • Then don't. Stock materials and settle down for a grind worth the time. If it means playing other games. Go for it. The break might do you some good.

                        • Personally, I'm down with restarting and re-grinding everything. If it was destiny 3... I'll probably still play here and there, but I feel like there's just too many bugs and not enough incentive to no life the game grinding for all new stuff.

                        • The problem is Destiny 2 got way too many issues that ruins it especially weapons That's why I stop Raiding and doing dungeons because there's literally no point grinding this game too hard because we are literally on our Third to forth reissue of some weapons that even I'm getting sick of seeing not to mention you can get ok to even better weapons from the season pass and vendors then the dungeons and raids all do to having a unique origin trait WOW We lost the meaning of what made players do Raids it was broken weapons and crossing the lvl cap

Honestly even since D1, only weapons are really worth grinding for. A god roll hand cannon or shotgun can make a massive difference in a raid or Trials match. God roll armor has always been…nice to have. Yes, it adds that final 5% to a build that pushes it to the max, but functionally, it’s never been that important. As always, grind guns. When the armor switch happens, do a few days to catch up to the current system, then never worry about it again until you hone in on targets for a build. As long as I can ornament back to my classic Iron Banana gear, I’m not much fussed. How many times has Bungie made me do this in 10 years? It’s just the expectation at this point.

                          • I forgot if they're changing up Weapons or not so thats the only thing I'm "Grinding" for PvP wise (Since PvP stays relatively the same when it comes to weapons). But yeah, only thing I'm really playing on the week to week basis is earning the new Title and Emblem for the Rite of the Nine.
Oh and the Warlock Good Wizard set, told you guys that was the better set.
