PVP Weirdness
Let me preface this by saying two things.
1- This is not really a complaint, something I've noticed for like a week.
2- I'm pretty average when it comes to PVP, not nearly close to being considered good.
With that said, lately I feel that I can't win a match or play good. I get matched with sweaties that run my team over, while I'm at the top of my team of people who were almost as useless as I was.
I also feel that my shots are not registering. I spray an enemy with a pulse and they don't go down (on PS5), but I'm brought down very easily by the other team. I've tried rotating weapons and still nothing.
This has been happening for the past two weeks probably. I know some dummies will say "skill issue brah" and move on, but again my post isn't really a complaint, it's something I've been noticing and I'm wondering if other people have had the same happen to them.

Yep it’s not just you. I’m seeing the same BS. Including cheaters on top of that. There is no reality where any PvP can be considered competitive due to the lag, etc.

Nah, its super accurate. Mine switches off. I'm pretty competent, PvP side. Don't need a fancy build or anything, as long as weapons work. However, its pretty plagued with that. It seems if you did a 1:1 headshot, same weapon, same perks, one person kills quick, the other not so much. Connection is a thing. Bungie's crap is outdated and kind of showing its age. Then there's time of day. In my area of the world, daytime is intense, but reasonably so. I get good massacres and competitive play, with fewer losses and smaller score gaps. Evening gets a bit more intense, with wider win/loss disparities, and nighttime is god awful. Then you get to late late, like 2 a.m. and its the most unbalanced, miserable experience you can have.

PVP Weirdness = Bungie giving me 4 IB engrams for getting mercied against a 3-6 stack and staying the whole match.. as if they know what a moronic pos experience that is PVP Weirdness = stuck in orbit after a match for many minutes.. unable to join any activity, it doesn't show that its doing anything, can't press escape.. can't change character... have to ctrl alt del out... end task destiny 2

the connections are worst they've ever been. feels like im getting damage glitched every second fight. there's also now a massive skillgap due to cheaters, that just wasn't there before.

It's almost like they are sending weird packets of the router they own different or maybe it's like they are on cellular networks? I don't understand it but it makes me wonder... end of the day i report them.

Yup, the damage registering thing happened to me as well in the recent past, but thankfully, is not happening anymore.

There’s a lot of cheaters in pvp you look up there star 100% head shots lol but I just look at it as a challenge

I feel the same way, I can do pretty decent enough to have fun and make some cool plays but some day it feels like it isn’t my turn to play the game that I’m logged in as a dreg. My shot go into the either my melees so negative damage and so on.

The point of: either shots don’t seem to matter against opponents or I get killed with only a few shots, seems to something I notice more often.

Sometimes connections feel good, sometimes they feel slightly off, other times they can feel terrible. It’s most noticeable when a kill registers a second or so after a final blow is landed. 2 weeks is a long time to have it continuously though, so maybe check your internet connection. Low player count might also explain it, but I play D1 Crucible (extremely low player count) and don’t experience anything that bad.

For some reason the latest balance of pvp has been -blam!-. Iron banners have been the worse.

I've noticed it too but not every match. One match it seems fine, my bullets land and I take appropriate damage. Then next match I'm shooting ghost bullets and I'm going down in .2 seconds to some cracked players shooting guns at double rpm. It's unlikely cheaters, just really bad connections between players.

I agree! I too am avg player. Some games I do great and it seems normal. But other games I get matched with stacked teams and try hards. I cannot make sense of their match making logic or why this game that I have played since D1 has gone down so badly.

1 ReplyIt's not you my man. It's been like this for a while. The reason I know is I play a lot of Comp. Some nights I play against 1 or 2 of the same players in multiple matches. I can just wreck the player one match without much effort. The next time I play him I can't kill him and I'm dying in 2 hits, I spawn by the opposing team instead of my teammates, etc..

It's not you, just bad connection and low population, not sure where you're from I play on PC, I'm from Russia and sometimes I get good gameplay when I match somebody from Europe and I land crispy 4 tap with scout, but if I play during day or in the morning, I match with people from Asia (China, Japan, Korea), well sometimes I have to shoot 6 times to kill somebody And I don't mean situations when I obviously miss, I'm talking about hit registration It just sucks man, not much you can do, let's hope EOF will bring lots of old and new players back

Connection problems everywhere cause low player base.

The last few months before the next expansion are always like this, player population is lower than usual as casual players leave for other games until the next release. Also it goes without saying that the skill creep in D2 is insane, like a Silver/Gold comp player would be Plat/Diamond in other games.

I'm not the best player, but I go on win streaks... occasionally, I can still top the leader board. Haven't won a single game tonight. Played 7. The last game I got 2 tapped with light-weight kinetic scout off the rip... I was full hp, he had no help. He was also running dbl primary and ended up leading the game with most kills. Kudos I guess. I threw a suppressor nade on top of a Glacial Quake a few matches ago... did nothing. I'm constantly matching with people who don't cap. My caps, my team caps... take the normal duration. Sometimes, it's instant for the other team. Kudos I guess. Last few nights, strikes and gutters because I'm average at best. Tonight is hell. I think there is a cap glitch again...

15 RepliesI called Playstation network yesterday and spoke with one of the managers in game services and they are going to do a full investigation on what is happening and why on an escalated level. I gave them an entire rundown on what happening to some players that are playing in well populated areas during peak times with gig internet running the absolute best hardwired hardware on the market with absolutely perfect signals. You are not the only one man, you should have heard our conversation. Sony will make things right in the end Im so glad they own this mess of a company that doesn't give a damn. Call Sony!! 1-800-345-7669 Thats the only way to get anything done about it because Bungie doesn't care one bit that we spent a ton to play and have a decent experience. Sony actually has teams you can talk to with escalation protocols that will get it done in the end.
