This story is a bit longer, so I can only send a portion of it here. But I will give the link to it for anyone wishing to read the whole thing over on my Tumblr :)
“And here I thought you didn't like comin’ out to your apartment.”
Eris tilted her head towards the location of the voice in the apartment doorway, catching a glimpse of the Drifter's familiar frame as he entered and closed the door behind him, eliciting a sharp click! as the lock snapped into place.
“What changed?” He asked, coming up beside her in the main room and peering over her shoulder from where she stood at her work table, looking down at the countless scattered papers and books.
The room was as cluttered as ever, curios and objects collected over the years scattered across every surface. Papers and books haphazardly lined across bookshelves and even lying on the floor, along with the pillows that should have been resting on the low white couch against the wall.
“This,” Eris replied plainly, her hand stretched out towards the bedroom, calling the Drifter’s attention to where the green rip through reality sat, casting its green glow against the walls and throughout the dimly lit rooms.
“Yeah?” He replied, sidling closer. “It is pretty impressive, huh?”
“Yes.” She turned her head towards him, fully looking over him for the first time since he had entered her apartment.
He smiled at her, catching the softness that had flashed across her features before she looked back down at her work once again.
“I must admit… I have surprised even myself with this discovery. This power that runs through me…” she reached out her free hand, curling her fingers through the air, as if grasping for something just out of reach. “It fills myself with an awe I could not have anticipated.”
“I hear you,” the Drifter replied. “Power like that? To that level? Would be pretty hard to expect.”
“Yes.” she stroked through the air one last time, as if reminiscing, before dropping her hand back to her side.
The Drifter turned his body to the side, leaning his hip against the edge of the table so he could fully face her, prompting her to do the same.
“So… what're your plans for tonight?”
“I had none other than to invite you here.” She replied.
“Well… I got one.”
“One what?”
“A plan,” he smiled slowly. Peculiarly. His gaze piercing.
Then, suddenly- his hands jerked towards her like striking serpents, clutching the fabric of her robe and yanking hard, bringing her into him with stumbling steps, cutting her off as she attempted to speak.
He pulled her closer, unrelenting. Fierce. Completely untamed. His warm lips making a home against the coolness of her own, yearning desperately for that cold chill that ran down his spine with every touch.
He began pulling at the hood which concealed her head, his heart thundering wildly under the pressure of her hand against his chest. They kissed, reckless and deliberate, savoring every moment, and movement of one another's lips, like it was the only thing that mattered.
And then it was over- their lips parted. Eyes wide. Breathing heavy. They stared into each other's eyes, each apparently waiting for the other to speak first.
The Drifter chuckled, taking in the view of what he'd done; her hood was off, short hair a mess, her cheeks and lips a soft red, and her eyes were wide as she stared into his face.
Finally, she cleared her throat, wiping the back of her hand over her mouth in a feign attempt to wipe away the tingle that remained.
“That was your plan?” She asked, her tone forced and sharp.
“Well, sure…” he cooed, spying a slight upward movement in the corners of her lips. “And I ain't too certain you actually disliked it…”
The Drifter crept closer when she didn't respond. He tilted his head, parting his mouth, eyelids sinking to the bottom half of her face.
Eris could shove him away. Should shove him away. But instead she let it happen, she let his mouth crash into her own with a ferocity and a hunger she did not expect.
The Drifter's surprise didn't last long before he took full advantage of the situation, his fingers tangling and gripping the fabric of her robes, pulling her closer as his mouth sought her own with an urgency and a fiery passion that felt both unstoppable and unquenchable.
“Drifter-” the words were swallowed by another frantic kiss. Then another. She tried again to speak, but the Drifter merely kissed her harder.
When finally he stopped, pulling away, he was breathless and trembling. Eris stared at him for a moment before forcing out a blunt sigh.
“You foolish Rat,” she murmured affectionately, reaching up to stroke his jawline.
“You didn't seem to mind it all too much,” he pointed out softly, hands still gripping firm and pulling her in, as if seeking something to cling to.
“Will you stay for tea?” She asked, suddenly changing the subject, as if trying to distract him.
He chuckled, his mouth curling into a smile along her own as he put his face back to hers.
“Of course,” he mumbled against her lips, before letting her go.
She stepped out of his reach, heading for the kitchen, him close on her heels.
