Where do we even start?
1. New armor system looks novel at best. Obviously everyone will run CC sets then swap to Weapon heavy sets for DPS
2. Portal looks lazy and the activities shown aren’t new. Just a re issue of the content we have been playing for years. Also. will likely hold nothing of value for endgame players. Experience or content wise.
3. New weapon system looks incredibly mid. No one cares about 3 perks on a gun except to enhance the chance at getting the god roll. I have tons of multi perk guns and very rarely switch. Bungie has and will nerf the truly OP combos a la edge transit. Enhanced barrels don’t matter in PVE, + picking barrels is more important than enhancing them.
4. New leveling and reset system looks absolutely -blam!-. Leveling through old activities is not new content, plain and simple.
I’m not overly concerned, but I do feel like this next expansion may actually tank the game. The momentum from FS is basically the only thing sustaining it currently. A lot of these systems are a soft sunset or a regression to what drove the #s down in the first place. I can’t think of a single new thing I’m looking forward to. If this is a Sony controlled Bungie I have even less hope for the game than I did before.
Lastly, having CCs drop the information to avoid backlash is pure comedy. That’s when know they are dodging what they perceive as guaranteed backlash lol but hey… got those pre orders with the SW ornaments right??????

Edited by longevity: 6/6/2025 3:12:02 PMcurrent dev team doesn't care about anything but manipulating the playerbase for /timeplayed metrics because that is the number one metric for increased cash shop sales every grind will increase as far as they can push it - until most things feel like sheer tedium because the rewards are stretched far too thinly over excessive repetition and recycling literallly nothing is sacred to a maintenance team, they will throw away any previous reward if they think it will create motivation on a new grind for increased /timeplayed the maintenance team have a short term mindset, as long as they can show a spreadsheet showing any kind of goal being hit, they will often bail shortly thereafter because Destiny is declining and it is always better to be part of a steady or growing ship, rather than a sinking one declinging IP's, even if perfectly run and completely healthy and profitable, get treated like disasters in the live service industry - even grossly profitable gets strip mined for some form of increase year over year live service basically cannibalizes itself for short term gains and a steadily worsening team because anyone any good bails to better franchises where things are good instead of mgmt breathing down everyone's back due to constant stress

Haven’t you guys been saying (insert expansion here) will kill the game for like 10 years now? It’s cute you think that way.

Edited by Salty-47: 6/5/2025 9:01:42 PM
Where do we even start?
Probably should have started by not making a post to just whine about things that haven't even happened yet.
1. New armor system looks novel at best. Obviously everyone will run CC sets then swap to Weapon heavy sets for DPS
I doubt that. Not everyone wants to play the exact same way all the time. You can do that if you want, but those who have the ability to think freely and play how they want won't.
2. Portal looks lazy and the activities shown aren’t new. Just a re issue of the content we have been playing for years. Also. will likely hold nothing of value for endgame players. Experience or content wise.
A tab that is meant to give people a quicker and easier way to play the content they want is lazy? Did you also expect them to just give you a fully detailed list of what all will be in it when the dlc and update hasn't even come out yet? I also see your basing your argument on speculation.
Then don't bother with doing anything to get the new weapons then. You can just enjoy using all your old ones and being power crept by everyone else.
4. New leveling and reset system looks absolutely -blam!-. Leveling through old activities is not new content, plain and simple.
Did you expect them to change that from how the game already is? They aren't completely changing the whole model of the game just because you don't like it. You people also do know there are games out there that are much worse for seasonal resets, right?
I’m not overly concerned, but I do feel like this next expansion may actually tank the game. The momentum from FS is basically the only thing sustaining it currently. If you aren't looking forward to or don't like anything that's coming, then don't buy the dlc or continue playing the game. It's not a job. You aren't required to stay here or buy anything.
Lastly, having CCs drop the information to avoid backlash is pure comedy. That’s when know they are dodging what they perceive as guaranteed backlash lol but hey… got those pre orders with the SW ornaments right??????
You do know that they have done this for just about every dlc that they have made, right? It has nothing to do with avoiding backlash when it's something they repeatedly do. Edit: Never mind. You're just one of those people who immediately pre-ordered the dlc and is now complaining about it as if you hadn't been one of the first to throw your money at it.

The majority of feedback I've seen in comment sections, and other channels, has largely been negative or apathetic. Games getting old yeller'ed or redesigned to try and find some new nonexistent audience that is simultaneously interested in playing a 7 year old game, but not what it was for those 7 years. This is why sequels exist, and even then, who wants to start halfway through a series? They've been chasing that new audience for so long and dragged the game so for from what it was, while still insisting on using the same name on the box... Just make another IP, make a D3, hell, remaster (and bring to pc) D1 with D2 QoL updates (mantle, storage, etc). Any of those would be so much more successful than I believe this will be. Only time will tell, and that's the one thing Bungie doesn't have.
-
Who knows they thought lightfall would be a hit. They no longer seem to understand gaming. Maximizing profits yes. Gaming not so much.
-
Bungie doesnt think this will grow the game. They damn well know they f'd up and that they lost all the casuals. They just triple down on their path of catering to the toxic elitists who are left playing this game. Noone with a sane mind will come back to this mediocre game in this state. They just give in to the elitists with these changes. Hey, atleast a tiny minority is happy this way :=) let them have fun and watch player numbers go down even more in the long run until the game is running red numbers and pete has to either deliver again or pull the plug.
-
CC tossers are the only people Bungo have given a -blam!- about for a very long time, its free marketing,
-
I’ve just read the devs post, and tbh I’m exhausted just reading the changes coming. Basically all the crap I collected is now gonna be worthless for people like me who spend most of their time in GM trying builds. It’s back to square one baby, grinding armors and weapons. Anyhoo, I’ll still buy the expansion but when it goes on sale at 50% in a couple months after the release.
-
They completely gave up on growing the game a year ago. It's all about keeping their "hardcore" addicted base from leaving with everyone else (according to game journalist insiders). There are still people arguing that the game is too casual friendly - even while admitting it's terrible for beginners. Any actual casuals have been gone for years, if not a decade at this point. The rest of us are various levels of addicted.
-
The only thing I was really dissapointed with was the solo node, which is just lost sectors And Traveler knows we have run them to death solo already

There is nobody steering this boat we are on called Destiny. We have competing groups of programmers. One controlled by what streamers want. The other by management always pushing for the new shiny hoping for another fat bonus. We want this boat to be a great ride. But instead we got leaks everywhere and too many shouting fire. With a band playing mariachi one minute and grunge rock the next in the background. Hopefully the leaks get plugged and band gets tired. I paid for this ride and hopefully I will have fun.

they don't know what to do with the game anymore! no point to spend money anymore on this game! the core problems are still ignored, and instead, we're just getting silly stuff like this! shame, destiny had so much potential

Actually a lot of this looks to be catering to new players. New armor + Weapon changes make it easier for newer players to not feel as left behind. And the reasoning for the portal is that it helps newer players understand where to put their time.
1. New armor system looks novel at best. Obviously everyone will run CC sets then swap to Weapon heavy sets for DPS
I agree - it looks fine. Glad that armor now has a reason to be chased again, but I am a little nervous about vault space pressure and balancing.
2. Portal looks lazy and the activities shown aren’t new. Just a re issue of the content we have been playing for years. Also. will likely hold nothing of value for endgame players. Experience or content wise.
Portal design needs some help, but that’s a largely UI/UX thing. As for the content thing, some of them are old (re-adding fan favorite activities bc people complain that it disappears) and a lot of them are going to be new and current stuff - like playlists and season activities. They’ve also explicitly mentioned that raids and dungeons are set to release there in Renegades. They’re avoiding matchmaking for high difficulty content and the Portal houses all the matchmade stuff - while fireteams finder houses the rest.
People who care about roll compression for their vaults or those who aren’t good enough to consistently obtain the weapons benefit massively from the 3 perks per column. So that’s not a “no one” Nerfing and buffing combos is just how live service games work. Edge Transit’s god roll is still extremely competitive too Enhanced barrels and mags are small things to entice you to do higher difficulty content. It’s literally like current Adepts….
4. New leveling and reset system looks absolutely -blam!-. Leveling through old activities is not new content, plain and simple.
100% agree with this. Leveling system needs more time in the oven. Again, it’s designed to be an on loading point for new players. All of your complaints will only affect frequent players that engage in endgame.

If you don’t like the direction the new leadership is taking the game, no amount of feedback on socials will make it to the decision making personal. Increasing and declining sales numbers and money is the feedback that corporations, upper management suits, and CEOs understand.

So how would you start the next story/villain arc without being able to release a new title? I'm seeing a lot of negativity and 0 better ideas.
