If you were to gain a video game character's powers...

Good evening everybody! This is Aifos coming to you alive from a hypothetical scenario that I wish for you to imagine. One day, let's say you wake up, and you feel different. You don't think much of it at first, but then, all of the sudden, you discover you have inherited the powers of a video game character! Neat! The question here is simple... Who do you choose, why do you choose them, and what do you do with their powers? The rules:
1. You gain their powers, but you remain yourself, you do not become them. 2. You are the only person to gain cool video game powers, so you don't need to worry about some crazy outbreak of super powered hooligans running around. 3. You gain these powers in a real life setting, so try to think about their applications in the real world. If you choose powers that are only good for fighting, for instance, you probably won't find too much use at school or work or whatever. 4. You do gain a given character's equipment as part of these powers, but you do not get video game inventory. So, whatever gear they have, you have to carry it yourself. The exception, of course, is when being able to summon it is part of the power. So, Link? Gotta carry all that junk manually. Sora? You can summon the Keyblade at will without worrying about carrying it around. 5. Equipment only goes so far as, like, personal equipment, that you'd carry on your person. i.e. something like a vehicle doesn't count. If you go for Batman, you'd get his gadgets, and his suit, but not the Batmobile, or the Bat Cave, or Wayne Manor, or his money. 6. If this hero has a companion character, you don't get them unless they directly affect the powers. So, OoT Link? You get all his items, but you don't get Navi. TP Link? Midna directly gives him the power to turn into a wolf, so yes, you do get Midna. 7. In the event you do get a companion, they will not ditch you. Unless the power, like, bonds you together, you can have them stay home for a day, but you'll never be rid of them permanently, whether you like it or not. 8. You get the powers as they appear in game, not as they appear in cutscenes/lore. These often overlap, but not always. If a character can canonically do something during a cutscene, or in some EU book, but they can't pull it off during gameplay, you don't get that power. This is gaining a video game character's powers, not a movie character's powers, so let's actually talk about games! Sonic, for instance, can run at top speed permanently in lore, but in game, he's bound by a boost gauge, so so are you! 9. Finally, supporting items for your powers do not exist in the world. Things like Sonic's rings, or Mega Man's weapon refills. If you can't find them irl already, and they're not equipment, you won't find them. So, try not to rely on anything that you need to find in the game world.
My answer: Answer 1: Grey/Ashe, Mega Man ZX: Advent (Model A)
It's a shapeshifting device. By default, you'll become the titular Model A, which already comes with some fun stuff, like super strength, super speed, and being able to climb walls, but its real boon comes from its ability to shapeshift. There's a robo deer man with even better super speed, a big ice turtle thing for swimming, a robo skeleton bird that can fly for short amounts of time, and not to mention the other Mega Men! It's super versatile, being able to shapeshift into a wide variety of things for a wide variety of uses, and it comes with the benefit of being able to be deactivated at will, so if I want to keep a secret identity, I totally can. It also comes with a bunch of different weapons, but I don't need those. I wouldn't use it for anything special, rather it's just nice to have the ability to be great at everything! Super fast, super strong, can get basically anywhere, and I get to be a robo fish man! Plus, I haven't even finished the game, so there are probably transformations I don't even have yet. The big downside, however, is Model A is alive, and by my own rules, he's gotta stick with me. He's a bit annoying. Tolerable, at least, though.
Answer 2: A Selkie, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
The big thing for this one are the magic rings, which allow me to cast MAGIC! Namely, healing magic in FFCC is totally busted. It's a full heal and you can cast it as much as you want. Not just Cure either, but also Raise! Selkies in particular also have access to Haste for super speed (though not as fast as Mega Man...) and Clear for status ailments... You know, it's not totally clear (heh) what would be considered a "status ailment" irl as opposed to just a wound, but it doesn't matter because I can infinitely cast both Cure and Clear! While getting the word out would be difficult, I could use these powers to become essentially a miracle doctor. Healing all the peoples. And, I'd do it for free, too! I'd probably run some sort of donation thing to help me stay afloat, and, like, you know, be able to get to the people who need healing, but I think this is pretty self explanatory. I'm not sure how it would affect, like, dismemberment, or cancer, and there's a bunch of morality questions that pop up when I start being able to raise the dead, but overall, great! The big catch with this one is I'm squeamish, but it'd be worth it. Probably.
Answer 3: Ajna, Indivisible
Ajna has super strength, super speed, flight, and is borderline immortal, and that's all well and good, but the real selling point here is she can store people inside of her head. The people inside don't need to eat, or sleep, and they can see things through her eyes, and she can go inside of her own head, too. She can release the people in her head at any time, and can also pull them back in at will. Is this technically kidnapping? Well, maybe. But we can sort out the morality of the situation later. I want to store people in my head.
But that's all for now folks! Jambuhbye!

    • This may be a little on the cheating side of it while still going with the rules you set, but I'd choose one of the dragon ball games characters. There's even multiple options to pick from. Answer 1- picking a character like buu or cell gives one the ability to regeneration on top of all of their fighting abilities. Then, there are also the abilities to fly and absorb other living things to gain their abilities, features, or knowledge. Answer 2- one could also go with frieza, which gives all of the same fighting abilities and flight with the added bonus of being able to survive in space. Now, this part may be cheating a little, but you did say that one gets their equipment that the character uses, so that should technically include the spaceship with the hyper advanced healing technology. Answer 3- definitely the most cheat based on, but picking any of god characters or angel characters just to gain essentially immortality on top of all of the other added benefits listed for parts of the previous 2 answers.

        • Everybody on this thread is mad sleeping on sandbox crafting games. Example number 1: Minecraft Steve. I know, I know, inventory doesn't count, but Steve's inventory is a paltry bonus in comparison to becoming the ultimate construction worker. Eat -blam!-, Bob the Builder. Even something as simple as punching a tree, getting a few 2x4s, then magically fusing them into a fully-functional workbench capable of making all sorts of tools is already broken. Not to mention being able to pop buildings out of thin air by bending physics into an extremely simplified versions of itself. Also, punching dirt and compacting it into easy-to-carry blocks in like 2 seconds would be insanely profitable. Dirt is hella expensive. Example number 2: TotK Link. Surprised nobody has said this, but beyond magic glue, Recall and Ascend would be really fun abilities to play around. I am not a prankster, but in the wrong hands, these abilities would wreak havoc among the people. In the form of pranks. Also, awkward conversations? Just freeze the other guy in time and speedwalk away. Not to mention you could use Ultrahand as telekinesis, if for whatever reason, you don't want to magically glue random -blam!- together. If Steve is the ultimate construction worker, then TotK Link would be the ultimate Etsy indie crafts-girlie. And that's not even considering Link's equipment. Yeah, a lot of it is swords and stuff, which is cool, but the glider would be pretty sweet. Not super practical for the normal person, but you have Ascend, which makes using the glider way more accessible, even in an everyday context. And it'd be nice to have the added cooking skillz are nice. The more I think about it, the sheer variety of practical skills TotK Link offers makes him the best pick.

Hmm I choose Alex mercer & James Heller Game :Prototype *Power Name: Blacklight *Type: Virus *Potential: Infinite Evolution *Powers: Shapeshifting, Memory Assimilation,Superhuman Speed & Agility, Super Endurance & Healing Factor,Superhuman Senses,Superhuman Strength,Evolutionary Adaptability, biomass weapon shapshifting Why? Because it sounds cool and looks awesome to have all those powers with few drawbacks and being borderline immortal on top of it while being able to blend and infiltrate with any society unknowingly.

I want to be the DOOM Slayer (from DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal). I would get his Praetor Suit and I would want to have the Super Shotgun and maybe his plasma rifle (since I cannot carry his whole arsenal because of the rules). Since there are not any physical demons on Earth or Mars (yet), I would probably join the Marines (*cough* DOOM Marine *cough*) or maybe become a mercenary for foreign governments or for the U.S. Government. I feel like it would be dope to be the DOOM Slayer (minus the PTSD, trauma, and neverending anger toward the demons). I would be invulnerable, and possess super human speed and strength!

                • HARK, I HATH DECIDED MY POWERS! I CHOOSE THE NOBLE AND VALIANT DON QUIXOTE, OF LIMBUS COMPANY!!! Spoiler time:
Alright, time to drop the act. I'm picking Don Quixote, or Sancho, her true name, a Second Kindred Bloodfiend, or basically a Vampire. The number kindred you are is how many "generations" away from the progenitor Bloodfiend, and the strength decreases over each generation. As a second kindred, Sancho is quite powerful. Powers and abilities include being able to manipulate blood, being able to live without food or water, and having an extended lifespan, maybe immortal outside of battle. I would be able to convert 2 people into my own kindred, and they would effectively be my vampire children, with similar features to my own. For the downsides, they don't seem weak to be weak to common things like the sun, garlic, or crosses, though they do have a fear of water, so I would gain that. They also have an extreme familial bond towards their sires, though since there wouldn't be a first kindred above me, I suppose that's moot. Now, you may ask yourself, well, why would you pick a second kindred and not the first Bloodfiend? Well, a few reasons, one, we haven't seen them, so they're out. Two, and this is a two parter, first, I don't know if I'd actually get the ability to turn people into Bloodfiends, as that's a lore thing. She can do that, but doesn't. Second, if I do get it, as a second kindred, the effect would be pretty localized. I can only turn two people, who can then each turn two people, and so on, whereas the first can turn as many people as he wants. Finally, I get her equipment, which includes a cool lance, but more importantly Rocinante, her shoes, which are able to suppress her Bloodfiend nature and abilities as long as she wears them.
Useful? Eh probably not, but being a
vampire
would be cool :3

                  • If an Armored Core counts as equipment, 621 from AC6 would be my go-to. Don't really care about the particulars of the build, but assuming I could re-arm (as the "power" would be kinda worthless without it"), as long as I get the coral rifle and my Pile Bunker, I'll live.

                              • This is a little harder than I thought… There’s a ton of cool characters whose powers would be awesome in their own worlds and conflicts. But applying them to our world and it gets a little more complicated to think it through. Basically every super powered warrior is kind of moot. Like it’d be fun to mess around a bit. But in terms of how it would correspond with real life means not a lot to me personally. So with that in mind and having finished a second playthrough of Expedition 33… Maelle (spoilers for Clair Obscur. Seriously. Don’t ruin this game for yourself if you haven’t played it.)
Maelle or any of the painters can paint reality complete with life onto a canvas. To make worlds and living, breathing people and entities within them that I can freely interact with… that’s potentially limitless experience at my fingertips limited only by my imagination. And since others can come into the canvas too it doesn’t have to be a lonely existence either. Granted if you’re not careful you can lose yourself to the canvas you create but… so? Maelle has the benefit of having been born into a painting so she has insight that no one else has. Renoir and Aline have experience but too much detachment. Verso is a lying piece of poo. I don’t respect him at all. And Clea only sees things as weapons. So if I want to be a painter, Maelle is the option. Just the thought of being able to paint my book as a world I could interact with personally. Yes, please.
Option 2. I chose chaos. The Prince of the Cosmos from Katamari Damacy.
This one’s straightforward. Even though it would be less useful in my own life… some people just want to watch the world get rolled up. With my katamari, I will roll the whole world up. Transferring it from the ball of Earth, to the ball of my katamari. Even though without the King of the Cosmos it will never become a star, it will still establish peace: by rolling us all up into one beautiful Katamari.
A lot of the games I play are horror or use characters with equipment rather than powers, so I don't have many choices from what I know well. From the games I do know well, definitely my destiny warlock. I get superhuman strength, endless stamina, limited flight, rapid natural healing, insane pain resistance, and short range teleportation From being a warlock I get access to a lot of destructive abilities that I could probably use to found a demolition company with very little overhead and print money. Or I could use the healing abilities to, throw a grenade at someone that heals physical injuries, summon a temporary circle that heals physical injuries. Some of the utility I'd get is a grappling hook that can grapple through thin air. Limited invisibility. Temporarily walking between dimensions. Diving through the air from any height to avoid fall damage. And that's just the abilities I would get. I'd also get a ghost companion who is able to hack really well if I ever end up needing that, and could probably help me with any computation I need to perform and seems to act like a hands free telephone. I'd guess he can also play music for me as well. There's also equipment (based on your rules Id say it's fair for me to choose 1 set of armor of my own choice and 1 weapon of choice from each slot) which means I get a really cool looking set of armor and 3 weapons I'll probably never use outside of a shooting range, but would make a very neat display and just be fun to shoot. I'd also be able to resurrect after death letting me pursue reckless stunts I normally wouldn't because it's too dangerous. And you could spin immortality as bad, but honestly, it's one of the better immortality powers out there. You are able to crush ghosts in game, so if my ghost and I decide it's time for us to go, we can.

                                      • Nerevarine from Morrowind. Ageless, immune to disease. Assuming maxed out skills and attributes, max luck, speed and acrobatics seem especially nice. Since we can bring equipment, accessories with constant effect would be great. Necromancer's Amulet for a giant boost to intelligence, constant heal and a ridiculous resistance to any physical damage. From there, I'd probably just enchant a few custom rings, maybe pants and boots, with: Restore fatigue Water breathing Slowfall 1pt (no falling damage) Telekinesis Night Eye If I have to pick existing gear instead of custom gear, then I'd get the Signet Ring and call it a day. Gear that could trigger Mark and Recall so I could instantly travel somewhere would be nice, too. I didn't consider spells since that seems especially overpowered.

Kat (Gravity Rush) Would cut down on a lot of travel time, and save a lot of money. Terminal velocity is roughly 120mph in freefall and closer to 180mph if you streamline yourself. Could probably get faster with the right aerodynamic gear. In the same vein, collision damage isn't a thing when using the powers, so no worries landing. Just pick myself up and brush myself off. Could powerslide too with no fear or friction burns. Kat doesn't have special gear so I'm assuming that extends to clothing (although she may technically be hydroplaning [aeroplaning?] just above the ground, so it may simply be I would avoid friction that way) Could levitate pretty much anything I could physically lift (including people) but multiple at a time and with no extra effort... could throw it too... not sure how useful that'd be though because "no collision damage" does not apply to thrown objects. And finally, walking up walls and across ceilings would be CRAZY useful. Nothing is out of reach and super easy to clean windows and such.

                                              • Ok I know that talk of the D word is banned down here BUT I think I’d have to go with my D2 Titan. Increased strength, speed, stamina, resilience, double jumping that’s borderline flight, not to mention the ability to just put walls down everywhere. Also the fact that I’d have basically unlimited paracausal energy to just screw around with.
