A. I don't think I tend to favor a particular genre/style, but what's important is that I can find some sort of meaning or emotion in the song, which largely depends not on the song itself, but rather under the context I hear it. For a lot of songs, this can just depend on what my mood was that day. If hear a song a lot, and it doesn't get on my nerve, that often helps, because I may not get much from it most days, but there's a chance I'll hear it on a day where it just hits different, and that'll stick with me. Soundtracks do get a little bit of an advantage here, because it's much easier for me to find some sort of meaning or emotion from a story than a song, but this also comes with the notable asterisk that a lot of the time I can really only get invested in vocal songs. Part of this is out of necessity, since I mostly listen to music while walking to/from a destination, and I don't play my music very loud. It's easier to hear lyrics over instrumentals. Musicals and intro/credits themes do make up much of my playlist. B. I don't play an instrument, but if I did, it'd be a piano. Pianos are really perty, yes ma'am.
