Goodbye Destiny 2
Firstly, this is not a “I am quitting Destiny 2” post where I whine about the game.
This is a celebration of 8 years of Destiny 2, a game I have loved even through the quiet seasons.
I have earned 68 Titles (hoping to make Eternal my 69th and final).
At the end of the season, I will be leaving D2, uninstalling the game and will be gone at least a year, but likely permanent - and while I am more than happy to explain why - this is not about that.
Many of you know of me, many of you will not but I have spent a lot of the last 8 years helping Guardians achieve things they didn’t think they could:
- Hundreds of Sherpas of Whisper and Zero Hour
- 207 Flawless Master Presage helps for the “Last Chapter” emblem
- Help on other Exotic missions
- Over 1000 GM Sherpas
- Raid and dungeon Sherpas
- Helped Guardians earn hundreds of titles
On Sunday 13th July I have a final D2 [url=https://www.twitch.tv/Jonty28]Twitch[/url] stream planned, after which I will be playing and streaming other games.
I would love as many of you to be there for my send off as possible and anyone who needs GM help, dungeon teaching or other triumphs (except raids) let me know and I will see what I can do to help you before my Guardian and Ghost retire.

Edit: it is lovely to see how many Guardians remember or recognise me. Thank you - it means a lot.

Not really quitting just saying it for views ? . Moving to warframe because it has more players than d2?

5 RepliesJonty, you're one of the great sherpas of the game and this game will be that much worse for your departure. That said, this will also be my last stand in a game I've come to enjoy over the past 7 years. I've just fallen out of step with it and can't support the leadership at Bungie any longer. I'll make it a point though to come watch your final stream and if lucky, be able to play one last time with you and your helpful clean mates! Eyes-up, Guardian.

But things come to an end for everyone eventually. I wish you the best. This post resonates because I'm deciding whether to move on for good (I'm on hiatus rigjt now) from Destiny 2. It wouldn't be because I'm bitter or anything. I've always enjoyed it, bugs and all. But I've played it tons, and nowadays, I have limited free time, and I find myself craving other gaming experiences. Who knows, I might come back again. That's why I still check the forums to see what players are thinking lately. But I have to say, I'm totally absorbed by Cyberpunk 2077 lately, and I'm glad I took the time to play it. Borderlands 4 comes out soon and a few other interesting games. So D2 has a lot of competition for my time. Each game that players get absorbed in will have things that make them special, but Destiny 2 stood out from the pack for many years. Even now, in a somewhat diminished state, it can be a powerful gaming experience that others will find hard to match. Be that as it may, people will move on. Better to so that while you're still feeling good about the game, then going with bitterness. Cheers 🍻

1 Replyl don't remember playing with ya . but happy trails . The direction of the game that bungie went down for a few years now, has been getting worse and worse. the next expansion will more then likely just be all grind for things you already had.and the end of destiny anyway.

1 ReplyHappy retirement, mate! Hope to see you back soon. The longer the break, the harder it is to come back. I took a break for about 5 months, played since day 1, and I'm not sure if I want to come back in July. I was looking forward to GTA 6, but that has been delayed.

3 RepliesGood luck in your future and enjoy the games, Jonty. I never made a run with you but from a rather early point in your sherpas I was sending as many people as I could. It was easy to see that you enjoyed the game as much as I did and you had the time to help others. My work ended up keeping me away for a lot of time up until a year or so ago and then my health took a dump on me. I still get on for stretches but what family I have now takes up most of my spare time that I have left. I hope you enjoy good success and make a lot of friends along the way, sir.

I’m not surprised with Bungie’s direction but I’m willing to go one more year as my core group still wants to continue, I want to see more of the story and I still enjoy the gameplay but I foresee me playing less with the changes. Best of luck in your future. Always a great person and Guardian. Your kindness and enthusiasm for the game will be missed.

5 RepliesYou know, I wasn’t going to comment here, as we’ve spoken in private. I was shocked when you decided to stop Sherpa-ing raids after Bungie raised the floor on the difficulty. You can imagine my shock when you decided to retire from this game. Despite the pair of us holding very similar opinions about the direction of the game, I just thought you’d be a permanent fixture here, helping guardians like you have done for years. Before people start thinking I’m just another discord member glazing you, you and I have never gamed together, and I’ve only been a member of your discord for a short while and have never interacted on there with anyone. We have only interacted on posts here or DM’s. I feel that Bungie is thoroughly moronic for pushing a player like myself away. Imagine how I feel if they’ve pushed a player like you away as well. It’s not just your achievements, which are very impressive. It’s the attitude and the genuine dedication and commitment to helping anyone who asks. Even when people talk 💩 to you on here, you’re nothing but genuine, respectful and positive. Something which I fail to achieve when people are rude on here. Whilst I’m not a big fan of content creator input into this game I wish that you had been able to give feedback to Bungie directly and face to face. It probably wouldn’t have made a difference as they are too arrogant to listen, but at least you would have made our disdain for the direction of the game clear. I know from the reactions here and elsewhere you are going to be missed. Not just for the help you have provided, but for your aforementioned attitude. Best of luck Jonty. I still need three cysts under 4 mins if we can finally arrange a time that suits us both 🤣. Or I’d like to help you Sherpa a raid, that I’m good at that is 🤣, if you have anyone in the community that needs a KF, VoG, RoN or a CE?
