What has happened to I.B?
So, before I start, I don't like pvp, and I'm no good at it. That said, I've always enjoyed a bit of iron banana. To be honest, I'd always come across players around my level, and those better would sometimes make me play better.
With this in mind, I had a go this week. Dear oh dear, me. It was like I had entered the world cup for Iron banner. From players getting 36 kills a game, to being killed with snipers with extraordinary aim. I'm talking, never missing a shot! Long range, 2 shot deaths from hand cannons, it was a -blam!- show. Horrible experience. I guess it highlights perhaps what we already know. The matchmaking in this game is -blam!- awful. 😆

3 RepliesI can tell u exactly what happened. Ur team was to scared to push the enemy team wasn't. The skill gap is so large now with CBMM that average to below average players are to scared to do anything but sit in the back of the map allowing the opposite team to basically play a farming simulator. Don't believe me, next time ur team is getting crushed pay attention, cause it's almost a certainty that they are all huddled together away from any fights so they don't get farmed. Watch as they enter a 2v1 and one or both actively run away because they have absolutely no faith in their ability to win a fight that's in their favor, watch as u try and cap a point to have 4 enemy's run up on u and ur team still loses another point despite you having almost thier whole team on top of you. Wanna have fun don't play objectively and don't help teams with fights. Just try and get kills cause the moment ur allies take a single shot, they are gonna leave u out to dry.

the matchmaking is hilarious. gunfights aren't a thing anymore. instead you got 1.3s egoing people better than them when they lose all their ones and get carried by other, better players.

3 RepliesSame for me. I'd get may two or three rounds from my auto rifle and I'd be dead. Met a guy round a corner with a shottie and hit him with my glaive - first - and I died. No fun getting killed in half a second every time. Not like they were using amazing weapons either, just random 450 auto rifles like Ammit AR2. Seems like you win if you have super fast internet and die if you don't.

The average skill in PvP has risen quite a bit over the years. If you arent playing much if at all, like you stated, then you will be in the bottom percent of players. PvP skill in other games does not directly translate to D2 PvP. There are builds, movement, and weapon combos that make a big difference. As does map knowledge and reading the enemy. Of course, there are cheaters and device users, but its not as popular as some people may want to believe. The reality of the situation is that the P2P connection with low player counts spread the players across wider skill and latency ranges than it did before. What we have now is outlier protection in matchmaking, where before there were enough players to have decent SBMM or CBMM. Now we can have neither good SB or CB matchmaking. Some games, you are a god in connection, others, you feel like you are a second behind everyone else. If you arent playing PvP, you dont get used to the feel of the connection and how it differs game to game, and how it differs from PvE which most of the time feels like you are playing in real time. If you want to improve, and get more wins. Play with your team, dont try to fly solo or be a hero. Those will get you killed more than help the team get the win.

At this point in the destiny timeline, it will be hard. You can't expect to go into a match and instantly slay out. Especially if you don't play PvP. There are a lot of people who solely play PvP and have done for years. They will be better than you, that's a given. With the population being so low at the moment, it's only the dedicated players that are mostly playing. So it will be infinitely more difficult than before. I don't think it has anything to do with matchmaking personally. Also, yeah, cheating is a thing, but the likelihood of you actually playing against a cheater or multiple cheaters per game is very, very low. They are just better and have better weapons. In regards to 2 tap hand cannons, crimils with adagio will two tap after a kill.

2 RepliesFrom my experience there is something very broken with the matchmaker specifically for IB: Control. There should be a second IB playlist available, unsure what mode it is this time around, but I would suggest checking that one out. Last time I played IB I ignored Control and played in the IB: Eruption playlist and saw maybe 3 mercy's across 30+ games.
