So if you noticed the sound of the orchestra is very “loud” on the opening screen. If anyone has worked on their own music projects or video projects they know that achieving a grand sound that is booming even at lower set volumes is a daunting task. It is what makes a professional engineer so valued; ability to take the sound and grow it more.
So how does Acoustic pitches created such a large dynamic?
The answer is in the space used, the sound technician knowing where to set the mics and a darn good orchestra. Most orchestras for performing arts will have around 30-40 solid members. The largest section is the strings group, having usually 15-20 string instrumentalists on set followed by around 10 brass and 10 reed and lastly the three to four percussionists.
What makes that dynamic grow into such a tremendous sound is the shape of the rooms and sound walls used to help send and eliminate the resonances. However the power itself comes directly from the musician. Over years they learn techniques to create a ballon of air that we call the diaphragm in which helps the duration and volume.
With a loud part they press on the balloon a bit more and it helps them get that loudness from their instrument.
A good instrumentalist can hold for at least 10 seconds a note if needed.
A super musician will learn circulatory breathing, it creates a cycle in which they can breathe in while pressing air out at the same time make a note seem endless.
So I wanted to share that because I know the code is cool and I love it too however that Orchestral Studio is a dream of mine to see and so I share.
I am amazed and in love with sound so hearing how it comes across and thinking of how it is made is what I geek about.
