Destiny 2 won't launch – BattlEye update failed and Windows permission error

Hi everyone,I'm having trouble launching Destiny 2 through Steam on my PC. The game installs fine, but when I try to launch it, BattlEye shows this: Installing BattlEye Service... BattlEye Service has been successfully installed. Updating... Update failed (1, 28). Please check your internet connection and/or firewall. Launching game... Right after that, I get a Windows error: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." This issue started a few hours ago. Since I didn’t know how to fix it, I uninstalled and reinstalled Destiny 2, but the problem still persists. Additional info: I've already tried running both Steam and Destiny 2 as administrator. I added folder exclusions to Windows Defender and Firewall. My internet connection is stable. I also manually reinstalled BattlEye. Has anyone else run into this issue or found a fix? I'd really appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks in advance!

 • Hi there, Thanks for reaching out. More than likely the issue you're experiencing is due to the update failure affecting BattlEye. To that point, please update Windows to the latest version if you haven't done so already, then refer to this FAQ for further information about BattlEye services and related troubleshooting.
