Hello. Should Bungie drop PS4 and Xbox One? The reason why I ask is because a lot of online games are dropping support for these consoles. Do you think Destiny 2 would get better with PS5 and Xbox Series? I ask this because of what happened on June 19th.

Because excluding a large portion of your playerbase is a good idea when your numbers are dropping faster than the pressure in a punctured tire? Yeah, that sounds smart...
-
Yes, A smaller player population is exactly what they need.
-
Bungie can't drop old gen if a large portion of the player base still play on XB1 and PS4. The game will actually die that's fact. You think the player numbers are low now, you ain't seen nothing yet. Also, just dropping old gen doesn't fix anything. Lots of work has to go into coding, game engine work, graphics, and lots of other things to allow the game to even take advantage of a next gen consoles capabilities. Bungie is in no position to do any of this right now. I don't see bungie dropping old gen for another year or 2 if that.
-
Nah. They should drop D2. 😝
-
Imagine playing at 30 fps in 2025.
-
Yes. I've been saying for a while now that The Final Shape and one or two episodes (as the epilogue) should have ended the PS4 and Xbox One era with Heresy or Edge of Fate starting the PS5 and PS6 era. I say this as a PS4 player.
-
Yes. Those players have had five years to upgrade. If they haven't by now, then they're not going to. And if legacy consoles are really holding the game back this much, then they need to go.
-
Yeah they should
-
They could maybe do it for a sequel
-
I doubt it is a simple case of just dropping those old gen consoles, the game would need a complete rebuild to take full advantage of the current gen consoles which I am not convinced Bungie have the appetite to do.

About half of active PSN accounts are still using PS4s. What company would sacrifice half of their user base?

Le Reinforcements have arrived… - old
Too late to drop them for D2 reasons, and since D3 isn’t even in development yet we could potentially see PS5 being left behind by the time serious development starts for it. -
Ya… TFS should have dropped them
-
Yes. Because those old Consoles is what really holding back development (like PS3/XBox 360 for Destiny). PS5 & XBox Series already have backwards compatibility plus Manufacturers already offering refurbished consoles (properly Inspected & Certified). A refurbished “PS5” cost $399 while a PS4 in 2015 cost $399.

It would make absolutely zero difference outside of increasing your load times sometimes, & adding hours to your matchmaking. To enhance the entire game it would need rebuilding, cost a fortune & it's a very dated looking game as is, it would improve much. The game is literally dying & they're desperate for every penny, to the state where the new dlc is barren & you're expecting a whole game rebuild whilst also cutting off half the already very low income stream (yes Sony said last month 50% of their active players are still on PS4). In another world we'd be due a new game now, & it would be current gen only, but it's not & we're not.
-
Why though? We aren’t getting a D2.5 or D3, it’s just more of the same and Xbox One and PS4 can play the six year old content fine. The only thing they’re adding in is a zone to grind seasonal bounties and those consoles can handle it.

I think it's immoral to simply drop them if it means they can no longer even play the game they purchased in good faith. Just because the game has been out for years, there are millions of last gen players that spend money on the game every year. Is it right to take the game away from those folks that pre-ordered the upcoming releases? They should get at least 3 more years to play the DLC. Nobody should be obligated to buy a next gen console just to keep playing a game they purchased.

As a player who started D2 on Xbox One, then migrated to PC as soon as it was available. The experience on Xbox One was horrific, constant drops to like 10-15fps, I could only imagine that it has gotten worse as the game has expanded especially with Prismatic. It should absolutely drop support for platforms that cannot run at 60fps PVE/120fps PvP at least.

Black desert online, the first descendant, are a few games that have dropped support to old gen. If you look at those games that have done so, have those games gotten better, worse or are still the same? If the answer to that question is better then yes drop em, if worse time to play a new game, still the same welp a lot of players found a new game.

The heck are you on about ? No way, bro! - old
Yes, I think Bungie should drop support for the old last gen consoles for the good of the game. PS5 and Series S/X have been available for 4.5 years. Putting away £10 a month for all that time would easily allow the purchase of a PS5 or Series S/X console. I guess Bungie have looked at how much of the playerbase is still on PS4 or XBOne and decided it would be too much of a risk. -
100% yes. Should have done it years ago.
-
Yup. Sry for all the “can’t afford current gen tech” people…should have dropped them 2 years ago.
-
It's a fair question, but here's another: Do you know how many players are still on last-gen consoles and if that number is substantial, can Bungie afford to lose them?
-
Yes, like 3 years ago. Unfortunately there's too many people still stuck on those consoles for us to move on without them.
