This video says it all.

It’s totally on point and it’s funny how many content creators that don’t play are showing to throw shade. Everything he’s saying is 100% true. The forums are littered with what he’s pointing out. The cycle is exactly the same every year and it’s posts from the same accounts. Watch it before commenting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEsebdJwAOs

    • There is one major point he's ignored; that Bungie (specifically their management) abused the trust of the community for years. The reason people have such a 'hate -blam!-' because they have been actively hurt. When Beyond Light was launched, we were told the DCV was temporary for at least the gameplay content going in; that we'd get these things back once they'd been fixed to work with the engine changes the game needed. Bungie has constantly added systems in, only to pull them again when issues appeared instead of actually fixing them: many PvP changes fall into this category (e.g. ammo meters), but the biggest example, and the one blowing up in Bungie's face, is crafting, which could have been fixed in numerous ways suggested by members of the community, but has been chucked for the old pure RNG system that it was introduced to counter the enormous isses in. D2 grew with WQ, and I can imagine many of the more MMO-minded players who joined there feel suckered in. He points out that people talk about D2 the way smokers talk about cigarettes, but that is because Bungie management have clearly focused on loops that feed into addiction.

        • Yes. The average person commenting on D2 is either a "super elite player", literally the top percentile or just complains.

          • "Your opinion matters. Your feelings aren't invalid..." After making an entire video trying to invalidate the feelings of others and essentially say it's just a financial tactic that is killing the game, or that anyone who doesn't make content but shares those sentiments is just a gullible idiot who needs a content creator to tell them how to think. Riiiiiiight... This is why the community is known as toxic. We attack and undermine each other because we have different opinions, instead of focusing on the good/bad that Bungie has done. It becomes tug of war, constant struggle and mashed up feedback, hell even if Bungie weren't shitting the bed in a behind the scenes way, of course they'd be struggling to keep up swinging from one extreme to the other, only to inevitably swing back and forth again. He is right about one thing, it's cyclical. Bungie starts the hype machine, cracks begin to show in the messaging, sharks smell blood in the water and attack, it becomes a feeding frenzy, white Knight arrives, takes shots at the sharks from the shore, feigning piety and noble justice, lines are drawn and armies rallied, game comes out and everyone is distracted, if it's good the glazing begins and fosters another year of hype, if it's bad the doomsaying begins and this time it's EVEN MORE DIRE...

            • Idk man, I've posted here for a decade & I don't see familiar names anymore, infact id argue forum activity has never been lower - we get a few new names that hang around a while but the same names, not anymore. We just had a reveal stream & there's 2 posts about it & 1 of those is from before it played, apathy truly does kill games :(

              • It's been like this since the 90s with gaming in general over genres, criticism is just that and opinions. Despite others takes on wants and or needs rely on your own judgement and if you enjoy the game play. Be a Luden of your own kind.

                • “We remember games are supposed to be fun” pretty much sums up my feelings. “The keyboard warriors that flock to the comment section that complain about the game that they haven’t played in months “- pretty much this forum lol
