Being able to use the dodge not near enemies is pointless as most hunter melee build focus on being surrounded by enemies. Additionally most hunter melee abilities are pointless to use at range.
This is the equivalent of making warlock rifts not provide overshield unless the health stat is at 70.

Had to make Hunters spec into melee somehow, feels bad.

Yeah, it really is the inconsistency across all the base class abilities that sticks out for me Marksman's Dodge isn't going to reload a variable amount based on my Weapon stat Barricades aren't going to be tougher or weaker depending on your Health stat A Rift won't provide more healing or damage based on the stats you invest into As far as I've seen, this is a Gambler's Dodge exclusive

Imagine if other classes got full free melee energy or grenade energy just for using their class ability. 🙃 Somehow hunters still complaining when it is free. And 70 melee will be easily obtainable. Let’s also take into consideration how busted this could be inside of PVP.

The changes to gamblers dodge are good. The game will still be fun. If you don’t get full dodge it’s okay you shouldn’t rely on abilities all game anyway. Learn how to play without ability up 24/7. I think hunters are the best players in D2 because they have to manage health and movement in order to be affective. There is nothing wrong with that you play the game for a challenge and to have fun. You can be more creative with this new armor system. Sometimes you have build where you don’t need melee and so you can invest that 70 into something else. Comparison is the thief of joy so at the end of the day the more you compare to other classes the more you’ll be in your feelings.

How does your gameplay loop change after this rework?

Its just no more free abilities for using an ability without an exotic. They will bump damage to level it out. It makes sense

Mask of fealty. Embrace throwing knife. Kunai build with the new chest piece. Weakening build with smokes and the changes to khepri sting for smoke bombs. Old caliban hands build on solar. All these are range melee. The only ones that aren't are liars handshake with the og exotic or the tryhard class item everyone uses - calibans with liars/ syntho

This change is an insane buff

Edited by JediGrant1: 6/24/2025 6:16:11 PMGamblers Dodge is going to let you dodge anywhere without being near an enemy or another player did you not hear that. Hunters are going to be OP

Just another in the very long list of nerfs they are selling as such a great new addition

Like I've said in another post, we have all of these builds already at this very moment, now we have to regrind for them entirely. Forcing seasonal meta similar to diablo 4 is not the way, everyone running the same builds due to artifact takes away from build diversity. This is what killed diablo 4, at least in PoE2 players choice matters. But hey wtf do I know 🍻

Agree 1000%

Again, 70 is gonna be extremely easy to get to lmao

This is a buff big time! Stop holding on to nostalgia and look at the perks of this. If you have melee build u will mostly want to be 100 or higher to get extra damage anyway. It’s not an issue

Overall, it’s a buff. Quite the worthwhile trade off.
