"New Gear" concept will kill the game for many...
Being forced to always chase new gear to play optimally is probably the worst idea I've ever heard. Like, WHY are you even letting us farm Rite of the Nine for guns now that are gonna do 10% less damage than the new stuff in Edge of Fate?
Just PLEASE remove that feature before release... thank you!

I'm honestly just waiting for news on the campaign, and I might cancel my pre-order. If it's just some generic get 50 planet resources, I'm going free to play.

its artificial grind it has backfired before on bungie and lost the game many players and it will do it again.

I agree it’s not that good! I get them doing it to encourage us to use more weapon and armour builds but having those builds become useless in the future feels like a waste of time!

The new tier weapons already have increased stats from Enhanced barrels/mags/origin traits and the tiered armor will have way higher stats so they need to remove the flat damage bonus and flat damage resistance bonus. It’s just stupid.

Bungie will most likely roll it back when they see its not going how they wanted to until than I intend to see how far and well I can do with mostly ignoring it.

I could see some weapons like sudden death, velocity baton, hezen, praedyth's, and no hesitation never being replaced, because their perk/origin combos are so strong that they will be worth using even at a 10% deficit, and those combos on those archetypes may never come back on "featured" gear. Keep in mind that 10% damage is like one surge. It is there of course, but the REAL TANGIBLE impact on gameplay will be negligible for casual players. It may affect contest level content where there is a serious combat challenge and you will miss the damage. Outside of that, you can probably use what you have now for a long time. The change will not hinder your ability to do strikes and normal raids/dungeons with your current gear I can promise you that. Yes I know its more of a "this FEELS bad and lazy" complaint rather than an actual "this will severely affect gameplay" complaint and I understand the sentiment. I agree that not allowing the rite of the nine dungeon weapons to be enhanced to tier 5 was a catastrophic miss. The rolls on those weapons are pretty trash compared to what we have now but being able grind for a shiny adept prosecutor with voltshot to take into the new raid at tier 5 would have been a great way to roll out the new system and incentivize engagement with the event. They literally did this with into the light and it was a resounding success. It is shocking that this was missed.

Oh noes now I has to look for new armor and not use the same stale stuff from the last 5 years or whatever. I’s required to look at all gear and not just keep the guns I think will be good a year from now.

I think (and my understanding could be easy off base) that the armour is going to be affected but current weapons will be on par with Tiers 1 or 2 with afros being the equivalent of tiers 3 or 4 so farming the RoT9 weapons isn't a complete waste of time.
