200 Stats? In this economy

This post is intended to be purely scientific. I am seeing a lot of comments about builds for next season. People are just grabbing any 2 stats they like and saying they will be 200. Short of some serious help from fragments, it is not even possible to get 2 stats to 200, let alone the specific ones you want. With Tier 5 armor and 5 Stat mods of +10 you can make 1 stat = 200. This is because Tier 5 armor will drop 30 - 25 -20 stat distribution with a max total of 75. The list below shows the way those stats will be distributed, with the third stat being 20 points into random. There is a ghost mod that can help you focus the drop, but not focus the random stat. Paragon Super Melee Brawler Melee Health Gunner Weapons Grenade Bulwark Health Class Specialist Class Weapons Grenadier Grenade Super So, lets say you want 200 points in Super. The only way to get that is to focus Paragon which means you will be stuck with 125 points in melee. There is a feature that allows you to take 5 points from one stat and put it into another. This is also completely random but the max benefit is 25. That third random stat is 20 points for a max of 100. If there is a massive boost from fragments or some additional stat increase mods, then it might be possible to reach 200 twice, but not with just any stats you want.

  • I think the 200 points isn’t meant to be put into multiple attributes but instead into one to enhance a build.

    • MrROFLwaffles did a video on Armor 3.0 & he explained that we will NOT be getting 200 in 2 different slots. The armor archetypes are not "focused" on 2 stats equally, but rather a Primary stat with a predetermined Secondary stat, and then a randomized Tertiary stat, and the total points we have between stats is something like 500 max. So in your example of the Paragon archetype, the Super is the Primary, getting the 200 ; the Melee is the Secondary, getting 125 (if thats what it is, I cant remember) ; and then the rest of the points are thrown into a random stat like Health, Grenade, etc

        • I like the idea of 200 stats but the premise is poorly executed. All this is going do is just re-install the grind and bringing back sunsetting again but in a different form. No more craftable weapons, re-issued gear but now it has tiers, nerfs nerfs and more nerfs to justify the rampant changes. I just don't think this going to be well received.

          • It's an awful, awful system - I spotted this coming a mile out but people just shouted me down and waved the -blam!--poms like good little cheerleaders. Once we get to the first weekend after release and people realise it's going to take an entire season of absolute grind just to get a barely half-decent build that actually works with an equipped exotic the player numbers in this game will plummet so fast they'll create a cold weather front.

          • I’ve watched people say they will get double 200’s and a 100 to make the argument the changes are good. And everyone saying it’s good are ignoring how the sets affecting stat distribution may actually prevent some combos from happening. I’m going to love watching the crash out when it drops

            • The armor mods that give stat points will be a staple of most pve builds now because of the benefits they offer will be present for each stat. You also didn't account for subclasses fragments that buff stats and the 10+ stat bonus some stats can give. With the most focused build you can add a minimum of 60 to each stat point plus 50ish stats from fragments passive bonuses. I think the meta will shift in a very interesting way as maybe resist mods and surges will no long be something you want to use in non-specific builds.

The stat total you’ll be able to achieve is going to be about 200 higher than it is now.

                • Plus players will likely want to run an exotic armor piece also and maybe an exotic class item, so only 3 pieces will be new gear unless one of those exotics is dropped to benefit from the new intrinsics. 🤷

                  • For the examples provides, wasn't that just the list of ada-1 exotic conversions? And didn't bungie already say they had to limit this? I think they'll be a lot more options... plus add in the +10 mod and the +5 mod and you'll have 75 points you can put anywhere... that'll get you to 450, and even with fragments I don't see how people can get to 500 (490, maybe??)... but updates are not live, so tbc. Personally though, I don't know why players will want to invest in 3/6 stats... all of them hold value, so having 3 stats at 0 seems wild.
