It’s odd how some subclasses still have only one ability to choose from. I’m not talking about aspects but the actual abilities (super, class, melee, garnade). Such as void warlock and hunter still only having one melee As well as pretty much the entire darkness subclass. I can give the darkness subclass a pass for being relatively new. But the light subclasses still feel like they’re only one play style you have to play or your experience is not enjoyable.
Let’s be honest most of the armor exotics that alter or create a new function (not the damage buffing ones) to your abilities should have been added to the base subclass abilities. Especially the new expansion exotics for the solar titan and strand hunter. Being able to call back your hammer or retrieved a tangle from range isn’t as game changing than you think. Especially in endgame where enemies are harder to kill and will continue to attack you while you’re waiting for your melee to come back. So it worth using an exotic slot?
I understand the new expansion is focus on the new gear update with the weapon tier system, matching set bonus, and stats/buff reworked. But even before this it feels like the developer is too timid to create a new ability for each class seasonally. If damage is the issue then start it with low damage then buff it later. If pvp is the issue change the cooldown time on those modes. There this one specific synergy with an exotic that makes it one shot bosses. Say you will take a look at it, wait 2 weeks then disabled or begin resolving the issue.
Ultimately I just want a surplus amount of abilities to choose from to feel like my builds is uniquely my own. Most “unique” builds are all the same because of the limited aspect’s & ability. Maybe the buffs are different but the abilities are all the same.

I don't think we can give dark subclasses a pass. Stasis is older than Light 3.0's subclasses and Strand is only a year older.

Imagine if the time and resources that went into that were spent on something permanent for our kits to provide more options for build crafting. I truly don’t understand the logic in spending time and resources on temporary when people criticized about it in the past.
