Why stasis will get a nerf ?

In this week TWID Bungie announce that shatter damage will, starting in EoF, stun overload instead of unstop. This will make stasis the only subclass in the game to stun only one champion type. I don't want to be dramatic but this kills a lot of stasis utility imo. Before if you used stasis you only needed an anti barrier gun to cover any champs the game throws at you, but in the EoF you would need an unstop option as well as a barrier one, making buildcrafting on stasis more *rigid*. While bungie's reason behind such a change is understandable, it feels really bad from an utilitary point. As said before this change will make stasis the only subclass in the game to stun only one champion type, and as a consequence every subclass except stasis will have less loadout restrictions, due to them having more anti champs capabilities. As a final note, I would like to see bungie rethink about this change, as it hurts more than it seems. Stasis felt weak before episode revenant and this change could really make stasis, once again, feel like an under-subclass.

  • In Classic Bungie fashion, they wanted to do something about Chill Clip so they decided to blanket nerf the Slow/Shatter gameplay feature to avoid having to do anything that required thought or nuance.

    • Stasis is getting a nerf because Bungie made a utility-focused Subclass (complete with a lower damage output), and then put that utility on weapons (because there was no damage to put there that wasn't linked to the utility), and then got mad when people made utility weapons. Champions were made to push a meta; that's undeniably their purpose, no matter what Bungo PR will claim. Because if they were only to increase challenge, we wouldn't be limited to specific weapons to deal with them; Banes increase challenge in that way, and they came after Champs. Bungie hates the idea of 'getting around' their 'challenges' in any way they didn't intend. Look at Notswap and locked loadouts; that isn't for fun, that's to slow us down and keep us within clearly defined parameters. And instead of just taking their lumps and accepting that players were making their own fun answers to the more irritating 'challenges' put in their way, Bungie has decided to remove players' fun, again, to preserve the 'challenge'.

    • My pure copium thought is that they’re going to add the “Stasis Mines” from Revenant’s artifact as a keyword like Threadlings. They were basically small floating shards of stasis that would detonate on contact. And then they’d update that to stun Unstoppables.

      • Maybe instead of nerfing everything they could develop a wild new enemy of a champion that maybe takes 2 different weapons to stun or something as the champions are boring. The grind needed from lvl 10 to lvl 400 will be a pain and to much effort for me as no hahahaa. If they added something worth doing would of got it but ahwell maybe it will be good.

      • Yeah, this is kinda short sighted on their part.

      • Wasn't stasis already weakest with the longest cooldowns of any element? Not to mention, the damage potential was already in the toilet.

It makes no sense because at least in my experience using tinasha's all season the unstop freeze is super inconsistent, in any situation where you need to kill an unstop kind of fast like the phalanxes in some GMs and the ogres in Verity or Acquisition it's better to just use an actual unstop weapon like a fusion for the insta stun. Chill clip to stun phalanxes doesnt even work if theyre blocking the shots with the shield. It was already pretty bad but was nice to have for the utility, I guess even that was too much, dumb change imo

        • pretty sure there will be a solar perk that will build up stacks and ignite, doing unstop, it might be the reworked incandescent that does it. i wish that we had a third column perk on solar that would give radiance after a couple bursts on a target.
