The new upcoming changes is just sunsetting with extra steps. The ONLY time that I came dangerously close to seriously leaving was during this era until it was walked back. If this doesn’t change, then I guess it’ll be a permanent “good bye.” Which would be a shame! I love this game and have dumped more hours than most but, like I said, you’re crossing a line again…

It’d be one thing if it was a sunset for this season and you build back up. But whomever is thinking about making us do it on a more regular basis is driving the game into a clusterfuck.
-
The new upcoming changes is just sunsetting with extra steps.
Oooh la la. Somebody's gonna get laid in college. In all seriousness, I'm with you though.
-
Yea, very not thrilled with being told what to use. Sure our old stuff is usable, weapons in particular. But it’s just going to be worse due to artificial seasonal gear buffs.
-
Edited by Guardian,Archon Of Light: 6/28/2025 11:11:08 PMWeather they level cap old gear, or make new weapons 15% better , so we would be handi-capping ourselves to run old gear, it's the same result And anyone who shows up to an endgame activity with old gear is getting kicked by Day 1 KWTD have x clears fireteam leaders And the bad thing is, even the "New" gear gets sunset each release lol, so we are just wasting our time grinding for things Might has well just give us the weapons you want us to use at the beginning of each activity, and remove the looting aspect all-together "Good News Community, we have solved the vault space issue, by removing the need for vaults, your welcome, check out the featured eververse items this week"
-
The only thing I think actually crosses the line is the damage and DR boosts for using new weapons. These should either be relegated to seasonal (not raid) activities or straight up removed. Everything else is 100% fine like how introducing origin traits in Witch Queen wasn’t sunsetting either.
-
No one wants their gear sunset.. sunset my gear i sunset my wallet
-
D3 you start from scratch. D2 you need to consider existing players and content. I am not feeling reassured. Bungie is hand waving inconvenient bugs such as RNG, old weapons, vault space, and others. Then promoting effectiveness and new features for new seasonal items. Keep hoping they would learn from their marketing failures of the past.
-
This is why they needed Destiny 3. In a new game, you start over with new stuff. Continuing D2 and sunsetting is terribly received…

Here at [BLAM]! We're better than you! So play OUR game.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 6/26/2025 8:15:35 PMAny kind of cyclical reset is a no from me. This is why I don’t play Diablo. Literally everything about the direction the game is taking minus the armor changes is the opposite of why I played Destiny over other live service games. It’s one of the only reasons why Destiny was the only live service game I played. This expansion is a hard pass and it wasn’t a hard decision. I’m actually already off. The walking back of crafting instead of balancing and expanding on it saw a significant drop in my play time. It drenched me in apathy. I barely finished Revenant. I made it to week 1 of act 2 of Heresy and that was it. The weapon chase amounted to less fun because on demand weapon experimentation was gone. This was the first time in the game’s history where I didn’t care to finish content that I paid for which was a good time to stop playing.

I think it's about time y'all realised Bungo ain't making the game YOU want.
-
Ehh. Honestly threatening to leave the game does nothing. Just stop playing if the brand new sunsetting is a dealbreaker for you. Too many people are all talk, no action.
-
Dude, you're 2053 lmfao, you ain't leaving 🤣

Listen to this my brother just got this BS scapieee 6/27/2025 - 11:16 AM Temporary Forum Ban Violation of the "Disruption/Evasion" clause of the Code of Conduct. Edited by The Hermit IX: 6/27/2025 12:49:35 PMOutside of dedicated servers and better anti cheat there is zero consensus with what the community wants in the game. One man’s trash is another’s treasure applies. Honestly, with the lack of the typical hype train, I’d be left to think that they’re using the negative ninnies to hype it before they show the content. If it’s the case, it’s a brilliant move and not costing them anything. I was one of the most outspoken players about sunsetting. It was because they didn’t have the loot to replace what was being taken away. My old gear will be fine to use as I farm new gear. I’m looking at you rocket assisted pulse. Vastly different and being done properly this time IMO. The game needs to evolve so it can hold a stop gap while they make D3 over the next four years. I’m not thrilled with the nerfs though and they’re doing what they always do on that level with over kill. They can revert nerfs as they go so I’m going to play EoF to see what happens. They’ve always been changing and adjusting things as they go as a developer. This isn’t any different outside of them spelling it out in detail ahead of the launch.

I have played Destiny since day 1 of Destiny 1, and have always pre-ordered every release, up until now. The hamster wheel keeps getting harder and harder, spinning faster for every year. Less content, more grinding, difficulty increases, everything takes longer to play - even the story missions. I haven't even finished this season story because I can't often sit for so long, so I quit in the midst of playing. Then if I try again some other day, I have to play from the beginning again, and it quickly becomes tedious so now I haven't bothered playing Destiny at all for some time and I don't know if I'll come back.
The new upcoming changes is just sunsetting with extra steps. The ONLY time that I came dangerously close to seriously leaving was during this era until it was walked back.
The game is currently sitting at 104th place on Steam Charts for current player count - I don't think 'walking away' is going to be your choice for much longer...

destiny is a game where it had long grinds but we were able to keep our stuff mostly forever, including most currencies throwing that model away and changing to a 6 month regrind is an absolutely massive change to the game systems, motivated solely by suits pushing grind for the sake of grind for cash shop buys of course its gonna chase away hella people that liked the old system but don't like the new or starting over or having their time devalued to such a degree this is a decision from a maintenance team that mostly has no capabilitiy of making a awesome new IP on their own, they just strip mine players on IP's that are declining and are resigned to it dying

Edited by xbroggiex: 6/27/2025 12:54:02 PMThe armor boost may be a real actual problem as it kind of pushes you away from using set bonuses you may like to opt for more DR, though depends on the set bonus. Weapon boosts will literally not matter and anyone complaining about that like the sky is falling is ridiculous. For starters you need to have T5 loot to gain a 10% boost, and lower tiers give you even less. So if you are the average player you might get T3-T4 loot maybe after many hours of playtime, that means you are only getting a 6-8% increase on damage which won't ultimately matter outside of very specific scenarios like raid boss damage, but that is also highly dependant on if your weapon is a good roll or not. Then T5 loot will really only come from the hardest stuff like Grandmaster/Ultimate difficulty with a couple modifiers on to get the highest reward, but by the point you are getting that top tier loot the only thing you are using it in is those high level activities where you might be more underlevelled than usual so that 10% boost might help out newer and lower skill players really. tl;dr god roll weapons will trump a small damage boost. Armor boost is kind of an issue because of putting pressure on your decision between DR or set bonuses. It indirectly also helps new players and lower skill players remain a bit more competitive in endgame.

It's sad, I was looking forward to it, but I don't like this timeframe of 6 months. Edit: Text correction

I'll probably keep playing but only as free to play.
-
based on what they writed on the twid is pretty obv that that bonus will not be active in content in modes where you start drop tier 5 maybe even tier 4
-
It’s optional sunsetting. Your old(current) gear will be just as strong as it is now, and will be useful in ALL content. You aren’t forced to drop everything and start fresh with the new gear system. You can transition at your own speed, at your own leisure, and over time inaugurate and evolve yourself into the new system. The people who want to engage with the higher tier gear can, and they will benefit from it, but you have no urgency to (like I said) drop everything right away because you may feel that everything you have is redundant, which it isn’t.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out
