So my old gamertag that I no longer have access to is linked to my cross save and is the active account for my cross save. I’m not able to deactivate cross save because it wants me to authenticate the account and as I’ve stated I don’t have access to it. I’ve tried recovering it multiple times but because it’s a 10 year old email apparently I just don’t have enough information for Microsoft to grant me the recovery. Now like I said the old gamertag is the active account for my destiny 2 characters and i don’t know what to do. I’ve played basically every season of destiny 2 and have thousands of hours played on it across all 3 platforms and I feel like now my account is just gone? How do I get my characters back?

Edited by EckyThump: 6/26/2025 7:07:12 PMHey there. As character data is tied to the account on which they were created, the only option is to continue to work with Microsoft, to try to satisfy their requirements for the account recovery. Are the characters not available through Steam or PSN? XBox is your Active, primary account so all a cross-save cancellation would do is unshare the characters from Steam and PSN. I assume that's not what you want?
