When I first read through the rework to glaive melee's now being counted as unpowered melees, I was super excited. I always felt like the melee part of glaives were underutilized. However, after looking back at the patch notes and then brainstorming a new build I could try once the expansion releases, I relearned a major reason I don't use glaives to often and a MAJOR sticking point for the use of glaives after this rework. For when I choose to play Titan every option listed that glaives now work with only require unpowered melee attacks to proc, things like, banner of war, wormgod, synthos. or require an outside source, like offensive bulwark needing an overshield. all things that I can easily work into a build or just proc using my glaive, no issues there. But I play Hunter, the things listed that glaive melee will work with were stylish execution and combination blow. Stylish works just fine, when im invis i can use my glaive melee and get the dmg bonus, cool. Combination Blow however, is a powered melee ability, I can only use my combination blow melee ability to build stacks and maintain its timer, not my unpowered melee ability. Which is the crux of the issue with glaives. They override your melee ability. I physically cannot use a melee ability while a glaive is in my hand. So, for me to use a glaive with combination blow i will need to constantly be swapping from my melee weapon (glaive) to any other weapon i have equipped and then punch with combination blow, then swap back. (all while trying to keep up with combination blows timer, which I can barely ever see because you only allow 4 things to be on the side of my screen at a time) Bungie, if you want me to use glaives, please allow me to use my powered melee abilities while a glaive is in my hand. you gave us the ability to bind a powered and unpowered melee button, use that same binding when i use a glaive so that i can still use my abilities. If anyone at bungie actually read this, thank you for reading and I sincerely hope you will make this change.
