Full disclosure-Player since D1 beta.
Once a lightning-fast power fantasy, Destiny 2 now feels more like trudging through molasses in a dream where everything hits harder—but you don’t. The thrill of unleashing chaos, of crafting builds that made you feel like a walking supernova, has been steadily chipped away with each balance patch. Sure, developers aim for “fairness,” but when fairness comes at the cost of fun, everyone loses.
The endless cycle of nerfs—be it to Supers, Exotics, or weapon archetypes—creates a meta that feels neutered and overly sanitized. Instead of rewarding creative playstyles, the sandbox now punishes anything that breaks through the grey sludge of mediocrity. It doesn’t feel like you’re optimizing anymore; it feels like you’re surviving.
And then there's the pacing. What used to be adrenaline-fueled gunfights now drag on, bogged down by health-spongy enemies and mechanics that stretch encounters past the point of enjoyment. Seasons repeat themselves like a lukewarm sitcom—predictable, slow, and lacking the punch that once made Destiny 2 unforgettable.
If excitement is what lured Guardians into the stars, boredom is now pulling them back down to Earth. Playing through the high-powered Destiny 1 sandbox recently has made this fact very apparent.
Ps- why have I never been sent a feedback email? I'm certainly willing.

I agree in all you wrote. Before (mostly before Lightfall), when your level increased and you found new weapons and armour, you felt your character became stronger. Missions and events you've played before went faster and better. Pacing. It is out of order. Even bread and butter-missions take forever, mostly because unbalanced difficulty. At best in missions you meet some fast-paced action with interesting scenery that might be a little difficult at some places but not too much to hinder you for long and destroy the action and story-pace. But then comes the dreaded white ring and you put your flag in the ground and you can meet not one, not two, but three sponge-bosses in a row. I died on the third, and had to play all over from the beginning of the flag-setting. These sponge-bosses destroy the pace of the story. I gave up. I also knew that If I wanted to play it again, I needed to play the whole mission again and then come to these bosses that I apparently was not equipped for/not good enough for to handle. And if I would get better equipment it would not matter because the enemies scale with it. I can't dedicate several hours per play-time, I'm and adult and have a full-time job with overtime, a house and other stuff to do, too. I play for chilling out, to take my mind off from work. Playing Destiny feels like a job, and not only that, it needs you to NOT have another job.

It is a easy way for a bad company to paper over cracks as they have no original ideas for content. Make players weaker leave the end game the same. Just a lack of ideas now maybe its tims to put the game down for Bungie and just say bye. I have a few ideas that would make me interested again. 1 All subclass in prismatic build crafters enjoy 2 New champions which require a stun and a damage shot to keep them stunned basically 2 players need to work on a champion while 1 clears adds or whatever the game is at that point. 3 Do not change the armour and make players get to 400+ to have a chance at tier 5 weapons it way to much grind in a boring way. 4 Pvp need new maps a few new weapons and some fun modes aswell. Maybe just get rid lf the lighthouse and make it a match by match luck drop or weapons and armour and still have the glow for 5 and 7 wins. 5 Maybe double handed weapons 2 side arms or a 1 handed sword and a hc. 6 THIS IS A BIG ONE BRING IN NORMAL PLAYERS WHEN YOU LET THE STREAMERS PLAY EARLY. I honestly taught this be common sense but letting the cabbages who make a living and are just yes men might be a bad idea for the average players. So get some das in who play 5 hours a week get some kids in who play 80 hours a weeks get some middle of the road players who play other games in get a variant but they dont its stupid. Miss out on all the good information avail to them because they could nit give a rats about us. Its just some ideas to make this game playable as it is so boring with the same champs same everything the new weapons might be good but thats not worth 100 quid to be honest they need to fix alot of stuff before a player increase will happen.

I actually got a feedback email a few days ago and added quite a bit in a comment section. I feel pretty much like you do. Challenge has become more of a focus than fun. Though I am sure there are others that know how to rise above the limitations that some of us see in the current game.

Just an observation, not a jab at you in any way. Second, this is all blatantly false when power creep has been constant throughout the game’s history. Year over year we get stronger with more buffs and more additional power creeping rewards.

Do we just focus on the select few nerfs and conceive an opinion based on that? Like nothing else that was buffed, changed or the big difference stats will have on a huge amount of builds? -Prismatic loosing fragment slots will change almost nothing, it’ll still be the strongest subclass. -Devour nerf does almost nothing. Healing 65% of your total HP is still great, and the grenade regen now benefits from the “grenade stat” meaning even more regen. -Consecration/melee changes benefit those who don’t want to have to build 5-6+ buffs to do CRAZY amounts of damage(which seems to be almost everyone on these forums, since build crafting is such a foreign concept still🤷🏼)You’ll be able to run around with roaring flames and your throwing hammer and deal 150% more damage then before. The most minimal investment possible. Floor gets raised up, and the ceiling gets lowered. -Stasis Shatter nerf to unstops makes no sense, I’ll agree on that. -Geomags will be better, super regen at 100 stat will be identical, but past 100 it’ll be flat out better then it is now. -Hunter Dodge will still be as good, if not better than it is now. 70 stat investment for free melee is not a big issue. It’s a free refund for some of the best kit functioning melees in the game. -Storms keep becoming non-stackable, affects 1% of the 1%. So out of the “BIG” 7, I’ll say maybe 2 of these(Shatter and maxed consecration/melee investment) will end up being actual nerfs, while the other 5 can either be recouped, neglected or replaced with the same(but better) gear through stat investment.
