Class abilities need to be more….classy

If that title confuses you, I don’t blame you. Let me explain. Class abilities have little to no variety in terms of what they do. Every subclass has their dodges, their barricades and their rifts. There are only 3 different class abilities that stand out. Phoenix Dive, Thruster and Acrobats dodge actually do something. Future class abilities need to do more, so much more that they toe the line between being a class ability and an aspect. I’ll use Strand as an example. Warlocks, Strand is *supposed* to be your summoner class. But, while the threadling build is fun and good, there isn’t an ability where you summon your Threadlings whether that be like a necromancer or a proper summoner. Why not have your class ability do so. Say you kill a little over a half dozen ads with a strand weapon, you pop your class ability which weaves the dead ads into Threadlings. And Weaver’s Call can buff it to where more Threadlings are created per dead ad. It’s not a rift, it’s not a Phoenix Dive, but an entirely new ability that lets you play into that summoner fantasy. Titans, your subclass is literally called ‘berserker’ but, other than the wild slashes from your super and melee, there’s not many abilities that actually let go berserk. Let a class ability be a War Cry. It will create a new, Titan specific, debuff and buff for the subclass. Not sure what they’d be called but, the debuff against enemies will put them in a perpetual state of fear where they stop shooting at you, run away, or even something drastic like surrendering. The buff for allies would empower your teammates with a unique buff. It could buff their melee damage but it should be something that rallies them to you. Banner of War could also empower the War Cry and enhance its effects. Hunters, while we have Ensnaring Slam, that’s an aspect. I want a new class ability, not an aspect. (More aspects would be great but that’s a different conversation). Threadrunner, to me, should be the best in terms of traversal and movement amongst all of the Hunter subclasses. I think having a class ability that could create grapples or threads that you and your allies can use(regardless of their subclass) to move around the map would be awesome. My whole point is that, while Bungo can have the basic class abilities as an *option* for us to use, there should be class abilities that have unique mechanics to the classes and some should even have their own, class specific, buffs and debuffs to build back the class identities we’ve lost. It’s also a way to go back and rework the basics and give them some unique properties depending on the subclass they’re on.
