Bungie, Stop Letting the ‘Good Old Boys’ Destroy Destiny — The Community Isn’t Forgetting Names

Bungie, how do you expect people to keep trusting you when you haven’t even fixed the issues you said you would? You keep hyping up this new expansion—Edge of Fate—expecting people to spend money and keep playing. But let’s be honest here: you’re still not fixing the problems that have been in the game for months. Take the Sons of Doctrine dungeon, for example. You’ve said multiple times you’re working on the exotic drop rate. You even claimed to release a patch to fix it. But it’s still broken. If the drop rate was 0.05% before, it feels like it’s now 0.055%. Players are grinding and getting nothing. You keep saying, “We’re working on it,” or “We’ve identified the issue,” but nothing actually changes. Meanwhile, you’re telling us to get hyped about a new expansion? Come on. How are we supposed to be excited when the core issues in the current game aren’t even being taken seriously? Let’s also talk about the decision-making behind the scenes. It’s pretty clear that some of the people calling the shots—the so-called “good old boys” at the top—haven’t ever seriously played Destiny. They’re handing down ideas that make zero sense from a gameplay perspective. It feels like they’re just throwing out whatever random idea comes to mind to see if it’ll make a quick buck. They’re not thinking long-term. They’re not thinking about the community. They’re just thinking about money. And they don’t care if those ideas push players away or destroy the trust people once had in this franchise. The decisions feel so disconnected from the actual game experience. It’s like they could say, “Let’s make the sky fall and call it a boss, and the hitbox is some random floating light that moves around every 10 seconds.” That’s how far gone some of these ideas feel. To the devs and team members who have been here since Destiny 1—who actually care about this game—stand up. Speak out. Push back. Because this direction? It’s not it. It’s costing you the little trust and fan base you have left. At this point, you’re not just lying to your fan base. You’re milking them. You’re draining the last bit of hope from the most loyal players you have—the ones who still want to believe in this game. And the ones running things? They don’t care if they plummet the company. As long as they get paid, they’ll move on. But we, the players, are left picking up the pieces. Bungie, you literally have a golden nugget right now with Rite of the Nine. It doesn’t take rocket science to see you could expand that system to every dungeon and raid and bring players back. The whole community has been asking for this for years, but the “good old boys” keep ignoring it because it doesn’t put instant money in their pockets. You’re chasing money, but you don’t know how to make money the right way. You have good ideas but keep throwing them away. The game could survive on its own if you’d just listen. You’re trying to push Edge of Fate, but you still haven’t fixed the major issues everyone keeps bringing up. Instead, we get nonsense updates and hollow responses. The people calling the shots don’t care about the game. They just care about their paycheck. Look what happened when some of those people got fired—they sued quickly. That tells you everything. You might fool the younger crowd into buying Edge of Fate, but the real players—the ones who spend their own money—see through all the smoke and mirrors. Stop the nonsense and fix your game. People still want to support you, but you’re letting these good old boys ruin everything. You need to stop the nonsense because you’re about to end up just like Activision—letting these good old boys screw your game and your company up. Remember, people remember names. And if you’re thinking inside the box, keep thinking inside the box. But know this: we see what’s happening.

**This is the wake-up call Bungie keeps ignoring.** Bungie, you’ve pushed this community too far. You keep acting like leaks were hurting you—when YOU were the ones leaking your own content to try and bait players into pre-orders. And even that didn’t work. That should’ve told you everything you needed to know: your content isn’t selling because it’s simply not good enough. And let’s be real—this isn’t just something players made up. **Even Aztecross talked about how Bungie is suddenly cracking down on leaks—when it’s BEEN BUNGIE leaking this stuff themselves all along.** Bungie tried to hype people up with leaks, thinking it would boost sales. But it didn’t. And now you’re acting like leaks are the problem, instead of looking in the mirror and realizing the real issue is that your content doesn’t stand on its own. Players have been telling you for YEARS what needs fixing. But instead of listening, you double down on broken systems, recycle the same bugs, and slap on gimmicks like “new mechanics” while the core of the game stays broken. The Pale Heart had real potential—The Final Shape *had something great*—but instead of refining what worked, you’re tearing it up with confusing armor changes, flashy visuals nobody asked for, and shallow UI tweaks. You’re fixing problems no one had and ignoring the real issues that have been shouted from the rooftops. All we wanted was for stats to *mean something*. Not for everything to be stripped down and rebuilt for no reason. Not for us to waste time floating through unnecessary space scenes. Not to deal with bloated menus full of stuff nobody uses. We just want a solid game, without all the fluff. And let’s be 100% clear—this isn’t just talk. **People actually pre-ordered “Edge of Fate” and are now CANCELING those pre-orders in large numbers.** That’s not rumor. That’s FACT. People are tired of paying for hype that turns into disappointment. If the content was strong, it would sell itself. But it’s not, and the community knows it. I’m not buying Echoes. I’m not buying “Edge of Fate.” And a LOT of players feel exactly the same way. We’re done pre-ordering disappointment. Bungie, the writing is on the wall. Your reputation is at rock bottom, and your player base is slipping away faster than ever. **LISTEN to the community.** Stop pushing changes nobody wants, and finally fix the game the way players have been asking you to for years. Otherwise, you’ll keep losing the loyal fans who made Destiny what it is in the first place. The truth is out—and it’s time Bungie faced it.

I dunno… First off never give a corporation trust. Save it for people you care about and have earned it. They use the word to get people to buy into the illusion they’re family when they’re a corporation that’s simply turning profits. Even content creators use the word to reinforce players believing a game is that important. Expectation is the correct word. When Bungie left Microsoft, Microsoft never left Bungie. D2 isn’t a spouse or a family member. It’s a game that’s a long term hobby. You have to decide if a $40 DLC is worth the $6.66 a month for the next 6 months. If you feel the product isn’t worth it then you can go the FTP route. I personally see Tysons vision after today’s reveal and think it’s worth the $40. To me he’s personalizing the game to players in a way that has never happened before in Destiny. From builds, weapons, load outs, interactive content that changes as you grow stronger and game play that you can shape into your play style. It’s the start of something new. The game simply will never be the version that’s in our heads but I think these changes are step in the right direction to making it a little closer to what we want on a personal level. Outside of dedicated servers and better anti cheat there is zero consensus in the community with what players want. So they are doing this instead. Keep in mind it’s a hobby, a game and not a life choice. Games are meant to be fun.

      • Honestly it's been hilarious watching them try to get everyone hyped for the dlc, only to show off and talk about the most monotonous, brainless gameplay and rewards the game has ever seen. Who the -blam!- is genuinely hyped about a Diablo 4 grind being brought to D2? Seasonal grinds over and over, and constantly making loot feel irrelevant is exactly why I quit diablo after the launch season.
