One thing I’ve always hated in destiny is how little the enemy races win, especially when our gaurdian shows up. Other than the witness, I can’t think of an enemy that achieved some kind of victory against our gaurdian. Before us, the city went through huge losses at the battle of twilight gap and its worst defeat ever during the great disaster. But other than that when we go up against an enemy faction they usually get crushed into complete extinction. Just look at the house of devils, the red legion, crota’s brood, and literally all vex in sol. This is especially true of the fallen since i think we can all agree they are the weakest race or at least the pose the least threat to the city.
I feel like this just shouldn’t be a thing. When the enemy never wins and the protagonist just keeps getting stronger with random -blam!- power ups like the new matter spark mechanic, the conflict loses all of its steaks and weight. Looks like our gaurdian is getting even stronger AGAIN despite being the strongest thing in the universe. Looks like we’re going against a random band of fallen AGAIN, like they don’t know what happened to the last group of fallen that went up against our gaurdian🙄🤦♂️. Other sci-fi ips like Star Wars and Warhammer are nothing like that. When 2 factions go against each other it’s not just a landslide victory each time. The bad guys CAN win. And even when they lose it’s with the good guys taking big losses to achieve it. Just give the fallen a win once in a while, please. atp I might just hold off on even buying the expansion until I see the final mission because if it’s just us running around doing busywork and the fallen just are not a threat at ANYY point throught the campaign, then I probably won’t want to play that -blam!-. It’s just powerfantasy slop atp

Eh we lost once. The Red War. Arguably the worst defeat and loss post collapse.
