All they needed to do was add the scorch line to the beam, making it a special reload was dumb af. Typical bungie breaking crap they dont need to.

Edited by Mind Breacher: 7/7/2025 7:55:08 AMAlternative idea for this weapon would have been hip fire for laser, regular fire aim down sights. Fire sprite buffs laser to new effect with scorch and ignition. I dont really use the sidearm solely because of the release fire instead of press, doing something like this suggestion would buff for pve like they want but also increase the feel of the gun for pvp for the majority of players. Edit: After reading another post I saw this was already suggested by another commenter, thats how obvious this is.

Nobody will use it now. Nobody.

Requiring a Firesprite to get the beam was clearly a targeted PvP nerf that they tried to hide as a PvE "gameplay loop" feature (that incidentally killed the gun for any DPS purposes it once had). But it failed. We noticed.
-
Yup, they ruined the gun for pvp

Edited by Kareem4361: 7/7/2025 5:38:49 AMI really wanted to like this pistol, but it's clunky, and having the same button, fire both the main, and alt. firing beam, is not very good.
-
adding scorch on every exotic gun doesnt suddenly make them good lmao putting a band aid on a broken leg won't make it walk with scorch or not devils ruin would still be ignored by 99.999% of the player base
-
I like the changes and let's be honest Devils ruin usage rate has been extremely low since its releases because the only thing going for it was its ability to spamming alt fire especially when players prioritize spamming the alt fire then shooting it normally, basically have a fusion rifle with primary ammo. Sadly this was going to happen sooner or later because of how it was being used and designed but that's BUNGIE's fault for releasing it in that state and lasted as long as it did. They basically just turned it into "Cryosthesia" I wouldn't be surprised if the "Final Warning" also get the same treatment in the future

Edited by ACROCANTHUS: 7/4/2025 5:05:26 AMGenuinely a horrendous rework. It just needed to do splash damage. Literally just giving the gun Incandescent would have been a better buff that didn't make it HARDER to use the EXOTIC PERK, AKA the reason you would want to use the gun.

The Bungie Way. They can’t make something better without messing it with up and ruining it.
-
The “require a firesprite” for a beam killed it for me. I can understand maybe getting a kill. But gahDAMN!
-
And they say the PvP nerfs don’t affect PvE. I’d say this is a solid example of how it does.
-
I can see some interesting synergy with this and the new Titan exotic 🤔
-
Agreed I'd have honestly loved a unique variant of subsistence on it and getting a kill with the beam slightly extends it so the more kills the longer the beam, or just adding the new perk they showed off that consistent damage applies scorch not this nerfed down version that can only be used with solar subclasses or solar focused prismatic. Honestly roll this whole thing back.
-
Am I sad I can’t spam the laser on one of my favorite exotics - yes. Am I excited for it being able to ignite enemies in PvE - also yes. Looks like a PvP nerf and a PvE buff.
-
Yeah, that reload -blam!- was silly
-
It’s no different than how they changed Cerberus, and that turned out well. Firesprite(and now Restoration/solar fragment synergy) creation is nice. If it applies scorch per beam tick, then it could straight up lead to ignitions if the full beam connects, which would be good. It provides a gameplay loop, with rewarding mini games interacting in between. I don’t see it personally taking a huge leap, but its viability definitely went up, along with its interactions with the solar heavy artifact.
