The only reason I picked Destiny a dozen years ago was because as a player I was promised “Character Progression.” I was told that events I did, worlds I explored, enemies I fought, gear I unlocked…would stay with me. As an old Diablo player this “feature” is the most attractive aspect of Destiny to me. Being able to actually see my gear in the game world. Knowing it’s unique or tied to certain feats. This is the greatest lie Bungie ever told. If Bungie was honest about Sunsetting I would have never played Destiny to begin with. I would have probably dove into the Star Citizen universe or something and right now be showing off my football stadium sized space ship, I get to keep, forever… as advertised, like I paid for. I’m putting this in “Feedback” cause that’s what it is, Feedback to Bungie. I feel your company has many issues, issues that seem to start at the top. The Devs, artists, engineers, and play testers don’t seem to actually have a voice or a say at Bungie anymore and it’s clear this why the company is struggling. CEOs don’t know how to make products, they know how sound good to investors (who also don’t know how to make products)
Sunsetting is a huge betrayal. Especially after everything we’ve been through over this topic.
Bungie: “TLDR”
The TLDR: Start to actually listen to your employees and fans. Who actually understand games
-
Technically your gear will be usable however it will not be OPTIMAL to use it. Thus you should try and grind out new stuff. They haven’t technically lied, they are masters of talking out the side of their mouth.
-
Bungie is bi-polar. Plain and simple.

I don't care what Mandela crap they wanna pull I remember in the vidoc 1 they tried to sell us AN OPEN WORLD in old Russia. But I still had hope. Now I really don't see anything of this empire Striking back.

you are really putting too much faith in their employees. After all it was the employees who came up with the lions share of bad, poorly implemented ideas, terrible story lines and sun setting!

Edited by ForeverLaxx: 7/7/2025 6:33:54 AMWhat else would you expect from a Microsoft Corporate plant, specialized in Marketing, to do with Bungie when given the keys?
-
Did you really expect talentless trash like the bungie devs to be able to really be honest.
-
Sunsetting gear is a lie, because when something is sunset, a replacement exactly the same will be available. IF YOU PLAY!
-
gear I unlocked…would stay with me
Try Warframe then, I still have my old gears from 2014

They do listen, they just can’t listen to every single person at once. They have millions of players, they can’t be bothered to care about what every single one thinks. If your mad at bungie then guess what, don’t play their game. This is a feedback community, not somewhere to crash out. -
Edited by TripleF73: 7/6/2025 10:00:10 AM“You do know… what company…we’re talking about here?” Skeletor. Edit :- https://youtu.be/tmCaXewv6YY?si=R0A5oh50sP0pPDSf Seems like even Tom Christie has reached maximum apathy with Destiny. He hasn’t even bothered to make a new video on it in 6 months. I hope we get one for Edge of Failure. 🤣.

Lol -Bungo

Funny thing is they said after they unsunset everything they said we aren’t going to sunset anymore three to four months later we are sunsetting again… I tell you Bungie can’t make up their minds
-
Sunsetting is what has me on hold for EoF....90% no and just 10% ok with getting EoF. My vault is FULL of HARD EARNED weapons....now they say they are just going to be "viable" in EoF which translates to...they can be used the first few days then go ahead and delete them since they are worthless now...go grind 4000 hours again for gear we'll sunset in the next expansion. Which would be ok IF WE HAD THE VAULT SPACE!!!!
-
This is a video game, not your crush from high school, lol.
-
Funny you would complain about sunsetting because they did it 3 times already - vanilla into forsaken - beyond light - Witch Queen (Semi sunsetting due to origin traits being introduced) - Edge of fate It's a new chapter of destiny, if you played all of the dlcs you would know the amount of sunsets already
-
They have been lying since day one. what's the surprise mate?
-
Is this still not the case? You can still use your old gear
-
Again ….again ….again ?!🙄😂
-
To your title: “Sounds like a day that ends in “y”. “
-
Your old gear isn’t being taken away. It’s still solid to do anything in the game. You guys are insisting things are being taken away. New gear is always slightly better but it’s nominal. New system offers better things to have better builds. So farm as you go and add to your load outs.
If Bungie was honest about Sunsetting I would have never played Destiny to begin with.
They didnt know they would be sunsetting when they launched. D1 was 2014 and d2 2017 and Sunsetting took place in 2021. If it bothered you that much and it was make or break for your decision to play D2, why did you keep playing? Which fans should they listen to? The ones who want to cling to every thing in the game AND want more stuff added to the game without making the old stuff irrelevant? Or maybe the fans who want to chase new better loot? Or maybe they should listen to the fans who say stop D2 and work on D3, or maybe the fans (at least claim to have been) who say Destiny is done, move on to something else. You say you want them to listen to fans, but really think you just want them to listen to you. At the end of the day, Bungie is going to Bungie and to expect anything more is setting yourself up for disappointment. You were upset over a full sunset, kept playing, and now upset over the softest sunset, if you insist on calling it that, that could be.
-
You: "Bungie you lied to us" Also You: "would of played Star Citizen instead". What? Lmao.
-
gear I unlocked…would stay with me.
This is really funny considering they did sunsetting literally 3 months after the game came out

-
kinda weird you referenced diablo which 2, 3, and 4 all have seasonal/ladder resets where you dont keep your gear or progression
-
They've been doing this since Taken King, yet you only now decide to complain about it?
