Let Us Use Memento Shaders on Armor – It’s Time

Dear Bungie Dev Team, First off, thank you for the years of effort you’ve put into Destiny 2. The visual identity of our Guardians is one of the most powerful parts of the experience — the way we look reflects how we play, what we’ve accomplished, and how we feel when we log in. That’s why I’m writing with a plea that I know many in the community have voiced already, but we haven’t seen any movement on: Please allow us to apply memento shaders, like Twilight Keepsake, to our armor. Right now, some of the most striking and beautiful shaders in the game are locked behind weapon-only mementos. They’re sitting in a silo, visually stunning but restricted to a small part of the sandbox. Twilight Keepsake, Dreaming Spectrum, Night’s Chill — these are fan-favorite looks that we can’t match across our loadouts because they’re locked to weapons. We’re not asking for armor mementos to be handed out easily or casually. We’re just asking for: The ability to apply existing memento shaders to armor, or... The option to slot a memento into armor pieces, even if it's a limited, hard-earned mechanic. We grind the content. We craft the weapons. We chase the cosmetics. So why not let us fully customize the look of our Guardians using the incredible assets you've already created? It would add immense value to activities like Trials, Nightfalls, Festival events, and Gambit — making mementos more relevant and giving us a real incentive to engage with these systems again. Bungie, this is a win-win: You're reusing assets that already exist. Players feel more rewarded for their time and grind. Destiny continues to evolve as a place where fashion is endgame — and now it's complete. Please consider making this change, even if it’s one shader at a time. You’ve given us the tools to craft our weapons — now let us craft our look. Thank you for reading, — A Guardian who just wants to match his gun to his drip NovicRacker#6933

  • I totally agree. With "shiny" weapons being the chase now no one is going to care about mementos except maybe the Trials one unless we can apply them to a fully masterworked piece of armor

Mementos are just glorified limited use shaders, was a fun gimmick in WQ but of course the streamers and whatnot all praised them for it so they kept on going, idk WHY people thought this was great at all. It's wild that bungie did take the time to make sure that memento shaders would preview properly (& by extent apply right if they'd let us) IF applying them could ever be done and this preview bug even exists, like bungie def coded that but was meant to be unused as a feature.
Please consider making this change, even if it’s one shader at a time. You’ve given us the tools to craft our weapons — now let us craft our look.
Also they don't have to do any testing lol, previewing memento on armor(& non-enhancable guns too, primary slot, also exotic guns) works as intended, as a shader, all they have to do is add a memento slot, they got that coding for crafted/enhanced guns done they just gotta copypaste it to armor to work when masterworked and Artificed. But we know they have other priorities other than fixing Ikora, Drifter etc blinking and "new subclass unlocked" etc, long standing bugs and such. They're too busy with pumping out the next shiny to dangle in front of the playerbase like a pair a keys to keep a kids attention and it's just a shame that it's that way, never have they done weekly polls on what we wanna see, or bugs to tackle or etc, never have they took a break from doing time crunch overtime trying to make content and instead just relax, take it slow and go into fulltime bug fixing. The game is so broken w/ spaghet code because they don't wanna take it slow they wanna build the trains rather than build the trainstation [if memory serves me right i think that is what they said in a conference? ¿] (iykyk what that reference is about).

  • You can actually preview them if you go into the fashion manager window and use the button that applies blanket shaders. Kinda cool. The garden and trials ones both look awesome. I kinda think with enhanceable and craftable weapons being set to the side right now, we might just see Bungie turn them into shaders…
