Hey fellow guardians how are you all feeling about stasis in the current and soon to be current sandbox of d2. Let me go ahead and say that most of what this post will be about is in regards to pve and not pvp however I will still voice my thoughts on stasis in pvp just in case and this will be assuming the reader has been mostly caught up on patches and artifact.
So I believe stasis as a subclass is slowly (pun intended) walking towards its grave in pve. The patches that have been made to stasis have mostly been beneficial with the buffs to frost armor dr and general frozen shatter damage. But i feel that these were mostly just tiny bandages to large wounds. Sure dr is nice but stasis does not have a way to heal health effectively unless running ice-fall mantle on titan. and a general target shatter buff at the time sounded awesome and maybe im reaching a little far for this point but i feel like most of the reason for it was to promote stasis aspects on prismatic since most of them are about freezing and not about creating crystals of any kind not to mention the balance changes recently effecting the subclass in varying ways like getting rid of unstop stun and making it only overloads and the nerf to attrition orbs on aoe gls and nerfing recuperation witch I know some of these are general changes but they impact the subclass so im mentioning them.
although despite the negative changes the first artifact of eof will have some stasis synergies that could even out the changes they are making and i think the health stat will balance the nerf to recuperation in the long run we will see.
Im also gonna voice some ideas that ive had that could change things for the better for the subclass.
I believe the whole harvest aspects system should be revamped entirely and heres some ideas that could make it better. Get rid of the harvest aspects and instead for the remaining aspects make some of them give a large chance (like 30-40%) to create a stasis shard when defeating an enemy with stasis damage. Make one or two aspects not give as high creation chance(like 10-20%) and instead make stasis shards created by you give certain effects for example frost armor on pickup like the current harvest aspects or maybe way more health, more melee energy or both grenade and melee energy. Current fragments that involve creating stasis shards under certain events should instead be a wider range of changes like how long shards last on field or how many you can make before cooldown but can still provide direct buffs to you and allies like aspects just not as powerful.
Speaking of fragments a lot of the stasis fragments are kinda just meh you dont really see yourself using any of them besides like 6-7 of them the devs should probably change them if they add a new keyword in the future like they did with arc.
So this might be a big one but i think both diamond lances and iceflare bolts should be in the general stasis subclass kit just at a weaker scale at least for iceflare I know freeing up harvest aspects already does free up a bit but I feel like its needed.
Here's a few potential stasis keyword. chilling rounds these will only apply to stasis and kinetic guns and stasis guns can roll a trait to get them like destab rounds on void guns. this will appy another keyword frost bound witch stacks like slow to 100 at 100 it dosent directly do anything but will amplify the effect of shattering a frozen target and if you continue to hit them with chilling rounds at max they will apply half of the applied frost bound as slow and refresh the frost bound state. Chilling rounds will also break through barriers and barrier champs and will have an aoe similar to chill clip. Chilling rounds can be found on any ammo type (primary, special and heavy) but will be a little weaker on primary ammo guns for reasons and when active chilling rounds will provide a small damage %buff similar to radiant but only for stasis and kinetic guns.
Now frost bound will be a key word along slow that can be found on all 3 subclasses whether through fragments, aspects, melee, grenade and super but will always vary on the ability being used and will amplify the effects of shatter heavily but will be hard to build up on anything other than bosses, champs and yellow bars.
Chilling rounds can be gotten by an aspect or fragment (much weaker from fragment by cooldown, activation conditions or duration)
Potential headstone change where instead of instantly placing a stasis crystal on precision kill it should create a stasis seeker(similar to coldsnap or iceflare) that goes to the next target freezes them and places the crystal next to them. I just feel like headstone is not as strong as jolting feedback or destab rounds.
For pvp changes they should make it so you cant insta freeze but need two instances of freeze for example you get hit with a coldsnap seeker that instead applies like 70 slow and need to get hit again to freeze aka make instant freezes instead give high slow stacks so you need to use more abilities to get the free kill it does not make sense in my opinion to get free kills from one ability unless its a super or aspect If you do get frozen it will be a little harder to breakout to balance it.
Also I know everyone wants it but please new stasis and strand supers and abilities pretty please.

The power to freeze instantly, is an absolute monster of a power, no matter how you implement it, it will always be strong, and cannot be made weak. It is terrible in both pve, and pvp, there is no way to deal with it, your run can end in an instant, at the behest of your opponents will.
