If I buy the character booster to complete the campaign on Legend, where do I get the exotic reward?
Do I have to play the campaign on a different difficulty level?

I would check before doing that as i believe its just the campaign skip not the rewards for completing it If they gave out the exotics with campaign skip people could complain thats pay to win
