Bungie's obsession with grinding to get inflated player numbers is killing the game...

New expansion dropped and power level again got reset. I have played for a few years and I don't find the strength to grind again. I just don't under stand Bungie's obsession over grinding, forcing the players to play the same content over and over again. They think this game was built for a handful of streamers who do this as their job. For someone who is a casual, has a family and gets only a few hours a week to play this is just impossible. If Bungie can't understand that I am a lot bigger demographic than a handful of streamers then good for them, I just don't find the strength to do this any more.

  • I play this game all the time, and I seriously hate the changes. Power Level takes way too long to grind, and I have no idea when or if I will ever get T5 loot. Maybe if I quit my job, I will have enough time...

Edge of fate marks a low point in the franchise and is the first D2 expansion that failed to break 100k concurrent players on Steam at launch. Lightfall 316k The final shape 314k Beyond light 242k Witch queen 290k Edge of fate 99k 👀

          • I just started playing a few weeks before edge of fate. Giving me a way to accelerate my advancement maybe level up a few weapons I liked and then take it all away is the stupidest thing I've ever seen in a game. Where are the deepsight harmonizers so I can finish my witch queen quest jerks!

This old tortoise has just hit the 200 cap. I did it without trying to do it…I just played my way through the campaign on normal mode, as usual. ‘Sparky’ - Sonic’s lost nut, is a bundle of ‘unfun’ to begin with…not very manageable in the ways in which it is too fidgety to easily control…though, over time, it’s getting a bit easier to handle. I reckon lag/latency play their part in this?! I can also see how this movement option could supersede sparrows, though not hoverboards. Also, its weapon needs to improve and be consistent…as does its control mechanism. ‘Lodi’ - what a drone this character is…I just don’t get the vibe…nor the backstory. I’d like an option to swap out Lodi for Nimbus… 🤣 Glitches and other bugs and stuff - too many, too often. Tiered Armour - please install a ‘best build’ button to save me from this nightmare. Even at my preferred ‘vanilla’ level, the range of configuration confusion is mind boggling!? I have no intention to chase higher tier gear, nor chase the latest ‘must have’ (reskin) weapon(s)…nor do the Raid or any other crazy grind stuff…nor run my other 2x character’s through the campaign on normal…at least, not yet?! The Portal - no problemo! Can take or leave it, as desired. It’s nay bother one way or the other, to me. Kepler - the new Pale Heart zone, once the campaign is cleared, I imagine. If so - good; if not - time to reconsider next step!? So far, I’ve pootled about the place learning the lay of the land…have played both PvE / PvP and mostly enjoyed it. All of the grindy confusing bits just addle my noggin, so, for me - K.I.S.S. is my preference at every turn! 🥳 The crazy, grrrrindy stuff, ain’t for me. That’s when I head for the Exit. 🧐 I also understand that EoF is a massive change…and that things take time to settle down. So far, the simple ‘vanilla’ stuff is doable, and keeps me somewhat entertained and engaged…though the crazy ‘punishment’ grind, and ‘always underpowered’ stuff - definitely ain’t for me. 🫤 TLDR: Raise the ceiling for the few that crave such…but for those that don’t* (the majority, I daresay) - K.I.S.S. 👈👈👈 That is all. Ease Springs! 🫡 *edited for clarity 😁

              • Your obsession with the idea your lack of fun is Bungie's fault is insane. Take a hike. Eat a fresh vegetable. Get laid. Write something down. Come back. It'll be fun. Video games are fun. If you do all that and it's still not fun, hopefully you can see the obvious. It's time for a different game or hobby

                • I'm a 0.1% player and i'm stupid to play so much, but i'm not a Donkey to grind all over again.

                • Already burnt out at 230 . lm moving on from this train wreck. I'll play some other things and wait for bungie to fix this poor excuse of a expansion grind.

                • It’s wild to me how hard they leaned into this direction for the game. People can stop playing because they got what they wanted “too soon” or “too easily”, or they can stop playing because the grind is too much, RNG is too much, the challenge is poorly implemented. Who do you think had more fun before they stopped playing? Which do you think is more likely to come back when there’s something new?
