The decision to remove vendors and their rewards tracks NEEDS to be REVERTED
I can’t understand this decision. The removal of Tower vendors’ rewards tracks has been one of the worst changes in the game in recent memory, personally, and I’m so frustrated with the friction it creates with the new Portal system.
Portal is a great idea in theory. Its implementation, as I’m sure you’ve heard many many times, has been abysmal. I engage with it purely because its the only gateway into activities that are worth my time now, but the fact it has seemingly locked away the majority of the game is just so upsetting to me as a player.
Dungeon and raid not being included aside, the removal of vendor rewards with the associated activity in favour or a targeted drop and bonus loot isn’t the consolation you might think it is. It’s great getting some new loot, yeah, but the reward track offered so much more when it came to my engagement with an activity. It gave me a reliable source of upgrade materials, new shaders, new ritual weapons (big L not including one this season), and allowed me to TARGET FOCUS rolls of the weapons I wanted.
The seasonal hub on the portal is a neat idea, but it’s an insulting alternative to a system that already existed and worked very well from a player point of view. The reward track was integral to my engagement with vanguard ops, and especially crucible. I can’t believe it’s been removed.
Please, Bungie. Give the vendors their reward tracks back. The Tower is also LIFELESS with them.

I agree, mostly just because the tower feels so useless now. Like the only reason to go back is to talk to Rahool, nobody else matters

Since the three core activities (Vanguard, Crucible and Gambit) no longer have a reputation track or any reward associated with them, I no longer have any interest in going and play strikes or nightfalls, crucible outside of Iron Banner, and even some rounds of gambit. I always went for the shaders and maybe some weapons. Those were incentives to play those game modes for a lot of players, and I feel it’s a little intentional. So all players use the portal, and the World tab is left behind with Vanguard and Gambit, since Crucible does have more interesting weapons.

6 RepliesNah removing the vendor level up tracks has been the single most beneficial change out of the entire DLC Now I have no reason to go into crucible or gambit...and that is an absolute win.

Certainly easier to just update the new portal rather than having to put an effort in with The Tower.

I agree with nearly every word. 100% Stumbled a bit when I got to the "Please, Bungie" bit. Not everyone gets to be happy, fact of life... But we PAY for the content they publish, without any chance of a refund 95% of the time... Asking them PLEASE for anything is only encouraging them to continue f**king with us, instead of respecting where the money comes from... plus, they don't really listen or care, despite what their "community managers" say... so it's just wasted pleasantness on your part

I'm relieved they removed the vendor rewards. I've been getting the seasonal wep and shaders all these years and now I have free D2 time to do whatever I want.

Portal. You will play the portal and like it. Lols kinda off topic but I tried to replay the Witch Queen Campaign yesterday. There’s no cutscenes, no opening, no closing. It just has you pick a mission and then dumps you….back to the portal. 🤣 Did Grok make this expansion????

Tne vendors activities are now legacy & all but useless, they'll get no more updates, a reward track would need updating, but it's not being so its been removed.

1 ReplyI can only dread how farming trials are going to be 😑 My advice is try to get up to getting Tier3 for a better chance to get good loot especially for weapons

1 ReplyI would appreciate having them back. The Portal can't beat the Tower as a vendor and social hub, for sure! At least, both should be equal. Which is definitely not the case anymore with the Tower.
