Has Destiny 2 been intentionally sabotaged to push players onto Marathon?

I'll be astonished if Marathon doesn't flop. It won't be as bad as Concord, but Bungie should've just canceled it and focused on Destiny. Destiny could be a gold mine if treated right but Bungie insists on making all the wrong choices.
