Before Edge of Fate, my PC was able to run the game at 60 FPS with some minimal drops in high-intensity environments. After the release of the current DLC, I can't get 60 FPS stable even at game modes that I've never had any issues like Crucible, and it is even worse in Raids were my FPS have reached less than 15 FPS.
PC Specs:
- GPU: Radeon RX 470 4 GB (up to date with the drivers)
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600
- RAM: 16 GB DDR4
- SSD 1 TB
- OS: Windows 11 (up to date with the updates)
Stuff that I've tried:
- Delete shader cache
- Verify game files in Steam
- Reinstalling the game
I know that my GPU might be too old, but I've never had any of this issues before as I said. Hope this is enough info for the issue to be solved.

Unreal. I have been spiraling into madness for the past 20 days trying to figure put what’s wrong with my brand new PC Intel core i9 14900KF 5.7Ghz Nvidia RTX 5080 PNY OC 16GB 64 GB DDR5 6000 Mhz (XMP on) 2TB NVMe m.2 SSD Asus Z790 Wifi Plus Mobo AIO cooling and like 9 fans (not a thermal bottleneck at all. Not in this game at least. Highest temperature in the most stressful benchmark was barely 60°C, let alone D2, an 8 year old game) Drivers up to date Windows up to date Fresh OS install Fresh DDU install No overlays, no background application, no hardware monitoring, no polling, absolutely nothing. Gamebar off. Task manager only shows D2 and BattleEye at the top for like a combined total of 3% CPU utilization. Power options set to maximum performance, etc etc. Hmmmm maybe it’s my monitor then? Nope. Gigabyte M28U 4K 144 Hz via HDMI 2.1. Hmmmm maybe it’s my internet then? NOPE. AT&T fiber optic (hard-wired) 2 down 2 up 10ms ping per SpeedTest. 0 packet loss per packetloss the website. Maybe it’s my Bluetooth peripherals? NOPE. Connected a starter pack mnk via usb instead ( for testing purposes ) Tried every single combination of options in BIOS. Resize Bar, XMP, DOCP I, DOCP II, deep sleep states, PCI express, minimum powers for cpu and gpu. Any and every thing you can think of. Reconfigured my internet from the ground up starting with AT&T all the way to my PC and through my modem. Tried it on my mobile hotspot, tried it on Wifi. Disabled Nagle’s Algorithm. Nothing. Daily troubleshooting and experimenting for hours on end for 30 days non stop. Did not leave a single suggestion untested. And yet, every time I loaded the game and into Orbit, my fps (capped at 144), would stutter (down to ~135, 130, 139, etc. once a minute). Zero explanation. Zero things fixed it. And now I come across this post to realize it’s not just me. It’s the 17 year old engine and game that are held together by duct tape. From a senior software engineer’s perspective, this is easily one of the least scalable code I’ve ever seen in action. Every minor change they introduce breaks 5 different things unrelated to it. I have never seen anything like it in my years of work, or in any other reputable game. It is horrid, jarring, demoralizing, frustrating, and outright unjustifiable. Spent at least 100 hours trying to fix this issue. I should’ve realized early on from all the flawless benchmarks my PC went through and all the buttery smooth gameplay of literally every other game on my PC besides D2, that it was the game’s issue and not my setup. Those are 100 hours I will never get back. Thanks for sharing.

Go to settings, system, display, ——> under related settings choose advanced display ——->select the correct monitor—— choose a refresh rate Refresh rate for os now affects your game, exclusive fullscreen took care of this. Your welcome

I FOUND A FIX (on my machine at least, req Nvidia app) Open D2 and open nvidia app. Go to graphics, select D2. Change the settings to whatever you want the graphics to be, but make sure it'll change to Full-screen from Full-screen Borderless or whatever it says. Hit optimize. I used to stutter ~20 fps less than what I should have, now constant 180.

Welcome to the party. At least half of the topics are about microstutter after expansion dropped. Still no fix from Bungie. Just one generic reply to check your drivers.

You aren’t the only one. Removal of exclusive fullscreen has made all movement appear choppy for many. You’ll get a lot of feedback on this post because this is such a widespread problem

the game has serious problems with stability and FPS. due to the removal of the fullscreen
