I've been interested in picking up this game for a while now but the Souls-like reputation I kept seeing attached to it gave me pause every time.
However, it's now going to be one of the PS Plus August free games and I'm curious to read some opinions others in Offtopic who've played it may wish to share. So.........thoughts?

Lives up to the Soulslike feel that those types of games have. I prefer the gameplay (fighting-wise) of Lies of P over Souls games. Whereas Souls games feel like almost every battle has you at the disadvantage, Lies of P levels the playing field by giving you more options to counter (parrying, “FP” is gained by attacking, flasks recharge by attacking when you are out). The game works with you rather than against you to defeat bosses and progress.

It’s a soulslike, but it’s not nearly as punishing as most of the souls games

It's no dark souls but it is good

Funnily enough, I’m in the opposite boat. Seemed neat because it’s a Soulslike, but the whole Pinocchio thing kinda kills my interest. Edgy Pinocchio doesn’t sound particularly interesting to me. Still, if you’re getting it for free, no harm in giving it a shot.

I highly recommend it, it's one of my favorite games ever, and the DLC is also a masterpiece in my opinion. There are things that separate it from most other souls-likes, such as the weapon crafting, the character progression, the deflecting, the more direct storytelling, and the more linear level design. However at the core it's still 100% a souls-like, so do with that what you will

I haven't personally played it but I've heard only good things about it.

I'll give it a go.
