The Grind to 450+ and being Reset to 200 is a Bad Design Decision.
Say you make it to 450. Get all your tier 5 loot you wanted. Next season rolls out.. Bam! Your reset to 200. And the new grind continues. So what was wasted? Your time and energy, not to mention tons of resources. We know the current state of using unstable cores to upgrade is ridiculous. 8k for one piece is just unbalanced and unfair in terms of player investment over the outcome.
With the grind, investment, and time commitment in getting to the cap. You will barely have time to enjoy your loot before you are reset. Honestly, the whole system feels like punishment and a chore instead of a grind. When we grind to get good rewards and be capped to feel powerful. Than we should only continue to grow in power. I think instead of resetting us raise the cap by 200 each season.
As for the casual playerbase. They'll have no reason to stay because they will be physically and mentally exhausted by this grind. And none of them will reach the cap..
Portal is a good idea, but we need a plethora of content to sustain it, and not too mention increase the completion drops by atleast 3x on all activities.
The World Tab needs to be updated to include all Tier 5 gear and weapons to help with the grind and excitement to farm them again.
I'm inbetween on how I feel about this whole change. They said they wanted to bring us Quality of Life changes to Destiny. Well, I can say this feels more like Dimishing Returns of My Investment. And this is where I might get off the Destiny train for good. None of it feels rewarding because the commitment doesn't feel onpar for what I have to do. I hope this wasn't their over arching decision to keep player retention. Because they will definitely move on if this system doesn't get improved.
Personally, I'm tired of getting reset every year.. been tired of it. Honestly. And, now this system is even worse.. and punishes further the more you push to the cap. So, I ask myself, why push for the cap if it means nothing next season?
How about giving us more Darkness Subclasses we been asking for?
Vault Space?
Prismatic Fragments?
More Spirit Class Item Rolls?
You know the true Quality of Life stuff?

2 RepliesDestiny 2 doesn't cater to the casual players any longer. It's a game for hardcore gamers and streamers. If you have a family, or any sort of life really, Destiny 2 is not for you unfortunately.

19 RepliesIm playing and having fun, but I absolutely do not care about tiered loot since its all going to reset. Im using the new stuff now as I get it since its stronger and I like running the GM tier content. I've been saying this for a week now...If you enjoy playing Destiny 2 just for playing it and the gameplay, the game has honestly never been better.

10 RepliesYou have 6 months to grind up to 450 after you complete the campaign and side quest that pretty much give you 200 light . 6 months for someone like me who plays maybe a couple times out or the week I’m already 330s there is plenty of time just relax

Apparently, the September update will raise the Power Level to 550. So the game plan looks like this: Edge of Faith drops. Grind to 450. Ash and Iron drops. Grind to 550. Renegades drops. Power resets, grind back up to 450. February/March update drops. Grind to 550. And it's just that. If Bungie really feels the need to reset our Power, then reset it to a more reasonable Power. Like 300.

...I stole a thousand beggars change, and gave it to the rich. Love that song, love tbe album! Anyway... 450 is, no doubt, a struggle bus. What's a little worrying is that the portal will be the only thing to play for months... grinding levels or just playing the game... it's just the same stuff over and over again (destiny in a nutshell, but dialled up to 11) There 'almost' needs to be a constant event up... arms week, solstice, iron banner or something more pve related. It's been okay playing through events, but if they weren't there... jeez!!

6 RepliesHonestly, we don’t know how the new system works completely. Sure it will reset our level to 200 power however, I couldn’t find anything on if the Tier system on our gear gets reset or not. If it doesn’t get reset, you’ll just need to get level 450 gear again but won’t need to replace it. I’ll admit that it’s a bad deal but it could be a lot worst. Imo, I would settle with being reset to the near power bracket. IE 400-450 => 400 ; 300 - 400 => 300 ; etc.

Meaning that there is always an activity that drops each weapon and armor slot. Constantly farming solo ops and encore praying you get what you need is not it. Additionally Desert perpetual should be dropping pinnacle loot as well at the very least for your first clear per character each week. Also hate that the game now punishes you for playing with friends if they can’t commit the same amount of time to the game as you. I’ll be playing through renegades because I paid for it but beyond that if it doesn’t change I’ll be done with destiny.

8 RepliesYou're telling me. I can't find enhancement prisms anywhere. I barely get any cores either. And an ascendant shard is nothing more than a unicorn. I'm not happy with what they've done to this game.

I never knew you reset at 200 well now that makes it even more questionable as to why streamers are freaking out so much about getting 450. What exactly is the point

Bungie needs to come clean on the REAL path to higher light levels. Small hint it is not time commitment to just PvP or standard gameplay. Guardian ranks MATTER. Also completing highest difficulty campaign MATTERS. Pay to play, beta testers, and yes content creators get early starts and have large pools of players to help compete harder content. Us plebs need to work around buggy LFG systems and clueless fellow plebs to figure things out. The anger is real if not a little misplaced. I vehemently disagree that Portal is a good thing. But fully agree level resets without clear path to improvement is bad.

1 ReplyAs an average player who doesn't have much time to play each week, it really feels like these events are pointless when you can't get anything beyond tier 3 without having grinded for countless hours at the beginning of the season. Not to mention the whole "all players are reset to 200 at seasons end" thing takes all the motivation I had to grind and throws it out the window. I just don't have the time, and this new system feels more punishing if you have less time to play.

I mean, we are what now 4 months away from reset, so by the time you even scratch 550 light level you gonna get reset hopefully they wont do it but knowing bungie they will probably do it to 350 even that is bad since you gotta grind new gear and they wont allow you to use old gear

2 RepliesStop playing at 200, take a break, play something else then come back at the next drop without having lost all you did and taken back down to …200. Then, presumably, you get to play all the way up to 450? Think if we did that, Bungie might notice……..and Panic somewhat?

2 RepliesI find it so annoying how all power does is lock us out of content. If I’m good enough to complete a GM, I should just play it and beat it. I shouldn’t have to grind an arbitrary number just so I can have permission to play it.

Agree with all of this. And I add, quality of life usually also means less clutter. It does for me at least. It’s wild that this AAA game’s menus now feel like a freemium mobile game. There’s so many stupid windows and tabs to track now, and it’s annoying.

They pretty much killed any motivation I may have had to level up my gear, from the beginning of the expansion. Then come Renegades, you are brought back down to 200 and have try to get back to the power taken from you. Why? A lightsaber is only motivation to swing around a lightsaber. It doesn't make me want to grind it all back.

Time is the one thing ALL of us have a finite source of. If you think spending it getting something intangible, with arbitrary numbers is the best use of the time you have, hats off to you. However, I can't help but feel that, some time in the future, it might be a decision many will regret.
