At this point, it's starting to feel like Bungie is intentionally trying to piss players off. Case in point: Grappler, the new modifier that replaces your grenade with a "non-offensive grapple hook". You running frost turrets? Build ruined. Getaway Artist? Tripmines? Build ruined. And guess what? Unless you're the type to read over every modifier before starting quickplay portal ops, you don't find out about this until you hit the ground - don't forget; loadout is locked - forcing you to either bail on your fireteam, or play through with literally no build.
If I wanted to grapple, I'd be running Strand, FFS!

The worst part about it... You can't use the grapple melee. I already use grapple in my build specifically for grapple melee But with that modifier...I can't.

Given the state of the expansion and all the stupid mechanics, are you really surprised these brain dead monkeys would force you to use grapple? No one uses straight strand anymore let alone grapple.

Every time they take a step forward they can’t help but to moonwalk several feet back. To be honest, the game isn’t bad in my opinion, but it does get hampered by poor decisions constantly. I don’t know what’s worse, if they do it on purpose (which makes them a PoS studio in regards to intent) or if they are just genuinely incompetent (which just makes them a piss poor studio).

If you don’t read the modifiers before loading in that’s a you problem. That said, I do really despise there being modifiers on the quickplay playlists. At least half the days I just won’t play because it’s an awful experience.

New Grappling mod for quick play during Solstice weeks with new solar mods that proc solar builds. Timing could not have been worse. Hopefully it is just a one day thing.

Very dumb idea. I chose the Master Solo Ops and the game determines the modifiers. I run Getaway Artist. Not only did they take away my grenade, they took away my exotic armor piece. LOL

i noticed that too i lost my fusion grenades. i said what the hell is grapple there i choose solar warlock. i checked and figured out its meant to screw you over. no grenades for you chucky!

It's stupid and needs to be buried in the same place as low gravity. But hey, remember their motto " play the way you like". I personally feel like it doesnt apply to anything unless you also add "....but you probably wont get rewarded for it". Everything in this game has a restriction at the moment. Just look at solstice, they put the solo ops drop in Caldera and Caldera only - unles you want to be stuck in quickmatch with horrible modifiers. Really? Why? Why would you want to funnel us into an activity that people have already been grinding for three weeks? If anything they should have put it on everything EXCEPT Caldera. They're completely clueless.

Personally I'm happy the grappler is back; been pulled out of more tight spots (or stupid mistakes) by it than I have by grenades.

Honestly quick play should just be difficulty modifiers by default, like stronger enemies, locked loadout…, unless you customize. It’s such a pain to jump in and then you don’t have grenade or suddenly you jump in Zero G… it ruins the build and gameplay loop and sucks the fun.

I thought it was a bug. I opted out of two runs before I read the modifiers. Got to admit... this is the first time a modifier pissed me off this much.

To have it as a random mod of the day/week is a multiplier killer. It's a -4 instead of the other boons being -1.

what makes it most annoying for me is I just want to run random matchmade content, and having to deal with it makes it so annoying to play around with literally any other build except strand. I get people though low gravity was annoying (i thought it was funny modifier tbh) but this grappler one sucks.

Build crafting. Wrong. It’s Bungie micromanaging to a new insane level. The modifiers are always negatively received. What do they do? Create more. More annoying than before. You’re forced to play a less fun version of the game. Bungie is without doubt the most anti-player developer of all time.
