I watched a video yesterday regarding how the Solstice event is handing out "super rewards", i.e. tier 5 armour and weapons.
Great, I thought.
But then, the catch.....
IF you have hit level 400, IF you are at guardian rank 9, IF you are able to grind this game 12 hours a day, 7 days a week on an industrial scale......then there might be something to get excited about.
I'm currently sitting at power level 232, guardian rank 6 and I've played every day since this abomination launched.
There are some guardians who just cannot do this and it seems that Bungie are rubbing salt in the wounds of those who have families and full time work commitments.
When they said they would reward players for their playtime, they didn't say it only applied to streamers and the top few percentage of elites who play Destiny for a living.
It's like giving millionaires the winning lottery numbers AND paying for their tickets.

I just hit 400 today, and guardian rank 9. I’ve yet to see one tier 5 drop. Are they just random? Grinded my absolute balls off to hit 400 on hopes of getting some T5 loot 😂
-
But why are You or Anybody spending Your Time, Energy, & Resources grinding pass 200? You do know that here in a Month or so We'll All be dropped back to 200, so all Your Time and Resources spend will be Lost and for Nothing. I'm fine at 200 and if something higher than 200 drops doing weekly/daily edz, Cos, moon, etc, Bounties. Public events, or Random chests is just a Bonus.

FWIW: just by playing the game - up to final campaign mission on normal mode, on my W, got me up to around LL230 / GR6. I then switched to my T because I was in no hurry to do that final mission…and just by playing the game, I’m now close to LL300… Scorch Crucible is a blast…and the loot is good. As are Solo Op missions (Caldera)…I’ve even done Master runs…though that’s above my actual pay grade! 😁 I’m not actively ‘chasing’ anything…just playing the game the way I want to…of the options available…and I’m still pacing my way through the campaign on normal mode, on my T… Eventually, I’ll get my H through the campaign trail, too…and maybe do a Legend run thereafter…but, like an old tortoise - there’s no hurry! 😁 Get some in…or don’t. ✅👻❌ That is all. Ease Springs! 🖖

I stopped caring when I realized there’s nothing to do that I need tier 4 or 5 gear for.
-
I’m even more glad I got a refund two days after release. I’m officially moving on after a couple months of regular play. Games uninstalled. Gonna play other stuff and hope battlefield is good. Hopefully there’s some changes in Ash an Iron. See you all around then. GL with the grind.

I’m 319 and got 4 total tier 5 drops farming caldera and skywatch…gotta get lucky
-
The streamers are all posting on X their tier 5 builds, they are desperate to crank up the fomo during solstice.
-
Can someone explain to me what the big difference is between Tiers 4 and 5? Because I honestly can't see why you'd ever need the extra tier if your the average player, but again, I don't know. If anyone can tell me the major difference I'd appreciate it.

Totally agree, I mentioned something similar in a previous post, there’s little incentive to play event all , I’m finding it impossible to get my rank high enough with limited play time, it’s feed the rich and bugger The poor

Edited by Grim: 8/7/2025 2:50:49 AMThey need to post the setup GR5 and 200 to 250 power to get tier 3 gear GR7 and 300 to 350 power to get tier 4 gear GR9 and 400 to 450 power to get tier 5 gear But the real problem is that most basement dwelling streamers and the top 1% players that got the tier 5 gear cheated and farmed that one pinnacle mission to get max power even before the raid came out. But bungie just conveniently found out and removed it before anyone else could do it. The game is rigged in the 1% favor and it's never been more apparent then now.
-
People at those insanely high levels have the means to get T5 gear easily. The event was supposed to be an exploit where a low level Guardian can acquire endgame gear. This was not the case.
-
Are t5's still dropping under 400? Bungie said Solstice drops at +1 and holos at another +1. Well I'm 300 and G8 and my first holo just now was t4. Or maybe it was because I got a B in team ops 🤷♂️
-
It was a terrible idea to scale rewards to playtime
-
I'm the same. Sitting at rank six (I think?), I can't move up yet as you need to do a master level thing, but I'm only 225 and you have to be 300+. It'll take me longer than the two weeks of solstice to get above 300. A bit of a waste of time putting these events so close to the release and then gating rewards. I thought the grind was alright tbh, but after a few weeks, god it's boring (and this is my favourite game).
-
Bungie only cares about the 1%
-
Well what do you expect? Bungie's fan bois are on here everyday saying you have to work for it. This echos bungie's own working system where harder is better, more grind is better, despite to obvious financial trouble the company is in. Fun and engaging, makes players want to spend time in the game world. More players means more micro transactions, more play time, more good publicity, more money. MORE of everything! Everything that this expansion will NOT get them.

Worst Solstice ive played, i already gave up.

RIGHT!!!! Some of us do have lives and can't play 24/7 (whines he who has well over 9000 hours played since D1 released) but dang I HATE what D2 has become with EoF I have almost zero desire to run anything more just to get high tier gear knowing that as you go up the harder it gets because the more mods you have to add to get mod-gated A/B/C potential rewards also knowing that the fight above 200 just gets rewarded with loosing that progress in just a couple of months from starting. WHAT THE LIVING HECK IS THE POINT IN PLAYING ANYMORE - seriously I have nothing to make me want to play anymore other then getting a few seasonal ranking up to get the SR's catalyst. Again please tell me what can help me still love this game - again well over 9000 hours played I obviously loveD the grind but not in this state! True Solstice gives slightly boosted gear which only truly helps a rare few and Solstice is just mods and running PvP - not a fan of Scorched, Mayhem maybe not Scorched. Wheres Bonfire, at least that gave me something fun to do and with Solstice mods it would have been fun! But noooooooo Bungo just keeps tell me - F-OFF find something else that's actually fun!

I got two tier 4s on Tuesday. I’ve got nothing but tier 2s, and a handful of tier 3s today. A lot of tier 1s also. Total waste of time.
-
l hate this game now. l gave it a try got to 328 . it's just to unrewarding to grind over and over old content, then sweat it out in solo Playlist running very hard tier A modifiers just for a tiny power in 1 slot . And for those that don't know once you hit 300 the grinders slower and the content is for sweats. not fun .l wouldn't be surprised if bungie don't make major changes ,cause if they don't this game is cooked.
-
Remove guardian rank from loot tiers… that would be a good start!
-
I got two tier 4s to drop on day 1 of Solstice when I was somewhere between 240-260 light. It was pretty cool and made me a bit more excited to grind. I've since made my way up to 285 and haven't had a single T4 drop since, so Bungie either "stealth nerfed" the drop rate yesterday or the RNG is just terrible. Either way, I'm sick of all the "raining loot" posts and claims I'm seeing everywhere and I feel like at least half of it is people lying. I've seen sub-300 people saying they are getting tier 5s and there's just no way I believe that after I didn't get a single T4 drop yesterday during a 5-6 hour play session.
-
I’m pl 300 on one guy don’t play that often and recived 4 t5 pieces of gear it’s rng that’s all
-
Isn't giving the people who play the most the best gear the epitome of rewarding the player for their time? And why in the world are you playing an "abomination" everyday? This sounds like the old "I want it all and I want it now" entitled whining. If you get the same rewards as someone who has slogged to 400 how is that rewarding their time? Shouldn't the playing itself be its own reward? I just don't comprehend the concept that getting a better drop on gear is the reason to play. And if you don't play as much as you want because you're busy paying the bills and taking care of your family then I salute your priorities. In game as in life - grinders get better stuff than casuals.
