honestly as a concept its ok, but in practice you literally could not have done any worse than it is right now. it forces all players to use only gear from the most recent chapters... including exotics, so their goes 10+ years of builds with one click, id argue its actually the worst modifier in the game and should give the most score increase. what's worse is some moron applied it to ALL conquests... it should NEVER be added to conquests, gear lock yes, gear locked to most recent chapter? no. because all the new gear is pathetically weak compared to the stuff that came before, and whats worse than that is it seems to pick and choose random gear to include and not include. for instance i can use Graviton Lance, but not Bad Juju? theyre literally both origin weapons, but hey i can use Legends of Acrius, oh wait, no i cant because i dont do raids for this same level of BS Avant Garde does. either include all exotics and give it a higher score multiplier than loadout lock, or remove it. it ruins everything it touches, and for once i actually went around to research this and found that this is the consensus, basically no one likes the modifier, and believe it should be changed or removed. the absolute pinnacle of all this is the amount of times ive had to make a new build because i dont happen to have this rotation of Avant Garde weapons, so im forced to subsume something i need to use a terrible weapon someone in development thought was objectively better than anything else, just for it to be a giant turdburger if you haven't grinded yourself to burnout, I.E Whisper of the Worm over literally any other sniper in the game...
