The scoring system makes most activities not fun. Having to focus on getting an arbitrary score(not very clear to begin with) instead of just having fun in the activity has completely soured my enjoyment of fire team and solo activities. Also forget trying to play with new players/friends. All you do is hurt their gameplay experience trying to help them.
Another huge issue i havent seen mentioned is how screwed you are if you didnt buy the season pass(15% bonus) or wear all new gear. If you dont do one or both of those things getting an A is extremely tedious.
Constantly increasing your power level just to be perpetually 20-40 levels below the combatants feels terrible. Only reason to increase power past a certain point(player power wise) is to get t4 and t5 drops.

Agree, this is trash, the higher your power gets the harder it is to get an A. The rewards are stingy, and repeating the same old content to get a power jump of 1 every now and then is miserable. I am at the end of the line now, was pushing for some tier 4's during solstice, got a couple (both chest pieces!) but my heart's not in it, not sure I'll even continue until next tuesday reset. 😥

Edited by Zypher: 8/16/2025 6:28:03 AMim currently at 378 power. My friend is 388 power. With the same modifiers and amount of new gear he gets an A in Master solo ops but the highest i can get is a B+ 1/2. How does that even make sense verse power 380 combatants? How is he getting a bigger score boost than me vs mobs 10 levels lower than him? This system is trash

It's stupid.... same mods different missions not enough on one but more than enough on another it's very inconsistent. and they wonder why people only farm one mission....it was better with the reputation tracks... should have flat difficulty (that can be over powered...with caps being a mod) and the new custom mods boost rep gains and have the time trial and score threshold be mods that just reward extra drop each..so if you try-hard you can get triple drops and rep boost....

The way that they've tied leveling up to increasingly difficult activities means that leveling up basically makes you weaker, not stronger. It's the only game I've ever played that punishes you for leveling up. It genuinely feels like Bungie is intentionally trying to weed casual players out of the game. Who in their right mind thought we would actually like this?

My issue with the scoring system is specifically with the exotic missions. Apparently you need to get an A and the time bonus for the exotic or catalysts to drop. I have run Encore a load of times and haven't got Choir of One. I have no intention to make it any harder than I need to Once you power up. You have to do the higher difficulties and start adding more and more negative modifiers. So the best time to get the exotics is down at 200 power. I disagree with this approach. The exotic should drop on first completion. And the catalysts should drop from the puzzles or chests within those missions
instead of just having fun in the activity
Should this not be the main purpose of any game? The problem with destiny is that is has been moving away from that, to a looter shooter mentality. The activities should be the focus of the game, not maximizing loot/second because the rng loot system is so -blam!-. The new scoring and leveling system made this worse. The addition of timers is the worst idea ever. Now every group I get in, we have to skip 99% of the enemies just to race and cheese to the final boss for loot drops. Where is the fun in that? Bungie keeps talking about creating "moments" in gameplay with friends that you will talk about forever. But how can we have any of these moments with this type of system. We need to go back to proper and fun activities where we have to clear all the enemies. Then balance loot drops around that. The addicted gamblers and streamers have ruined the direction of this game.

Edited by Lumis: 8/15/2025 10:27:04 PMBungie --or should I say Sony-- should roll the game back to before EoF and fire everyone responsible for this mess.

I don't hate the idea of scoring but this current implementation is -blam!-. Why don't we have the strike scoring in the missions? Things we're already familiar with that can be put in another spot. Featured gear should go. Find a different way to promote new gear beside set bonuses which are nice

The score system wouldn't be so bad if it was reasonably possible to get A rank in all activities. But: * Crucible will tank your rewards if you lose unless you practically carry your team * Fireteam ops have timers WAY too short for strikes and killing all the ads barely gets you B tier if at all * And there's nothing in game stating there is a difference between getting certain tiers. If I'm getting T4 loot for B, B+, and A tier rewards, what exactly is the difference? If I'm just as likely to get a prime engram from B tier as I am in A tier (I don't think this has been confirmed) why would I buff the enemy to be stronger than me? They need to address these before Ash and Iron.

Don't mind scoring but I detest the timer, incentivizing running past everything instead of killing everything is just dumb.

Then complain about rewards. When you play games, you don't have fun just for playing something you enjoy and need to be rewarded somehow? Playing a game should be the reward . Do you choose to play games to be entertained? Do you choose to watch movies to be entertained? Why do you engage in entertainment activities?

Agree and the scoring itself makes no sense with MM. I can be scoring the most kills, not die, wear all new gear and I’m still ranking last.
-
Edited by Wanderer: 8/14/2025 9:11:45 PMI like the score system boosting drops quality, but it should be about the actual score. Right now it's about this fake score and letter system, while the actual score is hidden in the mission summary tab. 😣
-
It's dumb. You either never get A Rank due to lack of kills in Fireteam and Crucible Ops, or you always get it because Solo and Pinnacle Ops just require you to complete the activity.
-
I actually liked the bounty system they had last season. Aside from the one with oddly specific gatekeeping bounties like “shoot a Guardian in Gambit between 2-5 seconds of them appearing and Quickscope emoting you”. Like excuse me bruh, there’s no way in hell I’m gonna do that after 3 beers… get real Bungo…
-
I agree totally, current system just sucks the fun out of the game.
-
I'd rather see side objective during activities than this shitty school grade system
-
agree the scoring is just more tediousness and vagueness in an already bad system overhaul these guys reinvented the wheel on something that was already working until the suits said we're cutting staff and budget so you can't keep delivering the game systems are a clown show now

I think in PvP it becomes a challenge due to matchmaking. Like, if I get steamrolled I’m not getting grade B. I have a feeling this system was implemented before and now it’s just a “feature.”
