I thought i was crazy until I scrolled through X and Reddit and saw many people saying the same thing. I am not 100% sure what changes Bungie made to Trials matchmaking or if it was intentional, but there seems to be super tight lobby balancing in the open skill playlist. In addition to this, my matchmaking takes longer than it should to find a game, it seems to favor putting me in 2 stacks even though im solo, and I play the same guys over and over again game after game. Many of these players are not in my region and the connection is not great which clearly is not connection based matchmaking like it is supposed to be. My first few games of the week are completely normal. It seems once i start dropping a high weekly kd, some type of performance based matchmaking kicks in, in addition to the lobby balancing. I am not 100% on what exactly is going on but the paragraph above is my theory based on playing hundreds of games of trials every weekend. What I do know forsure, is matchmaking in Trials is not working the way it did last season. I would like Bungie to at least acknowledge this and let us know if these changes are intended or a bug. Before you tell me populations low, get good, etc. take a scroll through reddit or youtube and you’ll find many higher level players saying the exact same thing. I thought I was crazy at first too. Edit: upon closer inspection, my 1 win lighthouse card says matchmaking is “weekly performance” when i search instead of “open”. This basically proves what I was saying above
